“Perfect Lake District getaway”
Reviewed 24 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

The cottage is well equipped, furnished beautifully and blissfully quiet. We had a superb weekend, topped by the fall of snow that made everything even prettier. It is within easy reach of the Lakes and there are super walks locally. I would wholly recommend it and Rowley Estates. Thank you

“Beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 1 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Elk Cottage was everything we wanted and more. It had a luxurious feel about it, it was a real treat to stay here. Spotless, incredibly well equipped and comfortable. And on top of that you are surrounded by the most beautiful countryside.
We will definitely be back.

“Fantastic well equipped cottage”
Reviewed 28 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We have stayed in numerous Rowley Estate cottages and halls over the years. This was our second visit to Elk Cottage and like the others it is stunning. The quality of the cottages and furnishings are outstanding. Elk Cottage is warm and cosy with a great open wood burner, delightful bedrooms with extremely comfortable beds, extremely well equipped kitchen and in general a beautiful welcoming place. We will be back again!

“A little bit of Heaven”
Reviewed 25 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Elk Cottage on Rowley Estates has to be one of the best Cottages we have every stayed in to date & we have stayed in a few nice places.
Running a Business myself when I go away I like a bit of piece, quiet & like to just relax & unwind & not think about anything.
This was definitely the place to do that & with added bonus of being able to hire the Hot Tub from Cumbria Hot Tubs this was the icing on the cake.
The other reason we booked with Rowley Estates is they are so Dog Friendly & our pugs felt right at home here.
It is very a well organised Business run by Christine Rowley & Estate Manager Jilly Musgrove who tended to our every need.
The Cottage was spotless on arrival, very clean, tidy & Fresh Bed linen & Towel's in every room & the Food Hamper in the Kitchen which was a lovely touch after a long drive up :)
The Cottage is very well equipped with every thing you could possibly need.
I would highly recommend this place it is worth every penny you get what you pay for & you definitely did in this case.
We will be back again soon
Regards
Steve & Jo

“An Absolutely Charming Rental Property in a Beautiful, Secluded area.”
Reviewed 14 September 2015 for a stay in July 2015

My 22 year old son and I traveled to the Lake District area in mid-July for a few days and rented Elk Cottage in Glasonby. This cottage is part of the Rowley Estates, which includes bigger properties as well as different sized cottages. We could not have been more delighted with our cottage. It was charming, distinctly English in feel, had lovely views of the countryside and was filled with wonderful linens, towels, dishes, wine glasses, every conceivable kitchen item you could need (down to plastic dishes and cups for small children), flat screen tv. This cottage used to be a barn and had gorgeous wooden beams in the ceiling and thick stone walls. The owners/managers leave a wonderful welcome basket filled with goodies for your stay (so thoughtful especially for your first night as there are no close by grocery stores that we could see). There are two delightful pubs in a near by town as well as a sweet little town named Melmerby near by with a few cute shops and a bakery, as well as a lovely antique store with wonderful, unusual little trinkets. The cottage is in Eden Valley and one can take several nature walks in the area-fields with cows, along the Eden River with hermit caves as well as old Druid stones. My son and I took picnic lunches out in the area, as well as drove to Keswick and Ullswater to see some of the Lake District. (This cottage is 12 miles outside of the Lake District.) We LOVED how beautiful and quiet this area was, devoid of any tourists or hussle and bustle. I hope to return again with my entire family. A wonderful memory!

Liked best: The luxurious amenities in the cottage and the location/setting (the views, the garden, the walks).
Liked least: Make sure to bring detailed maps of the area with you before you come-I was ill prepared and unable to catch up since wifi/internet was difficult.
