Visited Dodds for lunch several times over Christmas period. All our lunches were excellent - soups mainly but the other menu items we saw looked equally impressive. Efficient, friendly staff.
Tried visiting for dinner but it was too busy!

After parking up this was one of the first places we came accross.
We opted for a few lagers and a sharing platter of chicken, ribs,sausage,bacon and warm bread between us.
The meads were nicely cooked and all well presented.
Not quite a 5 as would've been great with a selection of sauces/piks to add flavour.
Warm and cosy and pleasant service, though never asked how the food was or if we would like another drink..

Good service, good food at a reasonable price and it is usually very busy, which is always a good sign.

We have been to Ambleside a few times and have always been told by locals to pay Dodds a visit. So we did!
The food was beautiful and it had a large drinks menu.
We enjoyed pastas and pizzas which were cooked to perfection.
Service was really good and staff were very attentive
We will now make Dodds a must visit when we are next in Ambleside.

Forget if who serves you is nice and friendly or not, the food was lovely! Bolognese with Pesto and rib eye steak was really good, definitely recommend this place after a nice couple of pints in the local pubs...
