“Cosy, clean, comfortable and in a good location”
Reviewed November 24, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

This cottage is on the edge of town nicely screened from the road which gives it a rural feel, while still being a quick walk from Ambleside. It had everything we needed for our stay; off road parking, well equipped kitchen, lovely bathroom, cosy living room, and a comfortable if a bit small double bed. Would definitely stay here again. There is a lovely footpath right outside that goes through the beautiful grounds of Rydal Hall, and all the way to Grasmere if desired! It didn't bother us much but the TV reception is very flaky in windy conditions.

Management Response

Hi, many thanks for your review, glad you enjoyed the cottage, and sorry that the tv reception can be troublesome, to rectify this we have had a new smart tv connected to wifi, so that when the weather affects the tv reception, guests can access their own netflix and sky accounts if they wish, and of course the full range of catch up tv channels.

“Perfect cottage in the perfect location”
Reviewed August 21, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We have just got back from Park Gates Lodge, which is a beautiful and comfortable house just 10 minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside. It is in a lovely setting, with the stream just opposite (great fun for children), and there are lots of local walks you can do without using your car. The cottage was equipped with everything we could possibly need for our holiday, the garden was very pretty, and we hope to go back!

“Wonderful Cottage in an excellent location”
Reviewed August 9, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Lovely well equipped cottage in an ideal location. You can park your car up for the week and access the centre of Ambleside and local walks from the doorstep! Excellent communication between the owners and myself.
Highly recommended! We look forward to staying ourselves again in the future.

“Excellent holiday cottage”
Reviewed July 22, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We were very impressed with this cottage. In an ideal position ,just outside Ambleside, for walking.
The house is well fitted out with a modern kitchen and comfortable rooms.

The kids did not want to leave at the end of the week! :-)

“An ideal place to stay”
Reviewed April 18, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Cottage is equipped and maintained to a high standard. It is located within easy walking distance of Ambleside and directly on a footpath and bus route. Our visiting grand children found the stream in front of the property a big attraction. WiFi,books ,games, DVDs,maps etc really helped to make our stay a home from home.

“Lovely holiday cottage”
Reviewed April 5, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Had a great stay in Park Gate Lodge with our 2 children. The cottage was very well equipped, spacious and clean. It is in a great spot, and only a short walk into Ambleside (about 10 minutes and easily manageable with young children, 8 and 5), with other nice walks up to Rydal Hall straight from the doorstep. Would certainly recommend.

“A lodge at the Gateway to the centre of the Lake District”

Park Gates is a very comfortable and well appointed lodge at the entrance to the Rydal Hall estate and a few minutes walk from the amenities of Ambleside. Both house and garden are attractive and maintained to a high standard. It makes an ideal base for walking in the central areas of Lakeland; the Fairfield Horseshoe commences from the front door; Rydal Water and Grasmere are a pleasant stroll away via the Rydal estate.
The lodge is close to the A591 but in contrast to the day, traffic at night is infrequent.
The rental is very reasonable for the location and season.
An experience that you will enjoy.
