We stayed here for the August bank holiday weekend for 3 nights. The location of the Waterhead hotel is excellent, just a 10 minute walk from the village where there are a good few places to eat, the Black Bull has great cask beers and good food, The crown also has good food.
Its a short walk through the hotel grounds to the shore of Coniston water, here they have their own Jetty where you can catch regular launches around the lake,
Breakfast in the hotel was plentiful, help yourself to fruit, cereals, yogurts, fruit juice, croissants etc, then order a cooked breakfast, plenty to keep you going while out for a walk.
We didn't eat in the restaurant, but did have a bar meal and that was excellent.
We stayed in room 22 and it was perfect, a lovely spacious room, beautiful shower room, the floorboards creek, but it is an old hotel, this room over looks the road, we didn't find it noisy, and have requested the same room for when we return in November.
The bar is very comfortable and has doors leading out to the garden.
The staff are very friendly and happy to help.
We enjoyed our stay here very much and as I said earlier we are returning in November.More
