“Avoid the crowds - stay here”
Reviewed April 27, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Torver and Coniston are so much nicer than some of the other more touristy areas of the lakes. The owners left an Easter egg for the kids, and the Wilson Arms was excellent for food and drink. Cottage itself was high spec and very relaxing.

Thank you for taking the time to review us and we're so glad you enjoyed your stay away from the masses.
I hope the kids enjoyed their Easter eggs and didn't eat them in one sitting.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your 18th visit with us last May, and we are also pleased you have enjoyed the upgrading of facilities within the house last year.
Being able to leave the car at 'home', whether to access the surrounding fells or the delights of the local pub, still prove to be popular motivations for our most loyal returning guests, who really, are considered friends of the family.
We are so pleased you continue to enjoy your holidays at Ash Gill and we look forward to welcoming you all back to Torver again soon. To the next 18 years.......Cheers!
Fondest Regards to you and all of your family.

“Amazing place... amazing stay...!!!”
Reviewed March 2, 2014 for a stay in November 2013

Ash Gill Cottage is set in a beautiful, picturesque location. It is in close proximity to Coniston and Hawkshead and is in walking distance (100 yards) to the Wilson Arms (amazing food). The cottage itself is superb, very homely and relaxing, the kitchen is lovely and very well equipped if you choose to cook. The living space is cosy with real log fire, comfy sofa's (recliners) and large TV (perfect). There is also ample dining space to enjoy family meals. All rooms are exceptionally clean, very well maintained and tastefully decorated with a modern cottage feel. We have now booked to go back in June for another weekend away...we can't wait!!

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us last Nov and for grading us with 5 stars - wow, we're delighted.
It is comforting to know that you found the house 'homely, relaxing and tastefully decorated' and we particularly wanted to install the log burner, making the house 'cosy'.

It is very handy having such a wonderfully popular hostelry on our doorstep too, eat-in or dine out, the choice is yours, and of course, we are looking forward to welcoming you back again in June.

“Fabulous cottage, fabulous location!”
Reviewed February 10, 2014 for a stay in June 2013

Arrived late on a Friday night after a long journey with two young children, was fabulous to be able to just walk in to a home from home. Every detail in the house has been thought through and executed beautifully. We woke to the most beautiful views, over the countryside. Location was perfect for walking and popping into Conniston. With two local pubs with excellent food on offer the kitchen though perfect, didn't get used! All of us loved our stay, and we will definitely be booking again this year

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely, glowing first review for us, and of course we're honoured to be awarded 5 stars - a 'home from home' is exactly what we strive to achieve for our guests.

We are thrilled with your comments, particularly the 'executed beautifully' with regards to detail and we worked particularly hard to achieve the 'perfect kitchen', however, with a fab local pub only 2 mins walk away, and no need to drive or indeed cook, we completely understand why the 'perfect kitchen' didn't get used.

We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay last June and we look forward to welcoming you back later this year.

Kindest regards,
Bev and Pete.
