We stayed at this Hotel on the 17th and 18th Sept 2018, and it was lovely. Very friendly staff and a very clean and spacious room for us both with our pet Lily (13yr old Springer Spaniel). The location was excellent and we visited, Grasmere, Ambleside, Windermere and Bowness as they are so nearby. The food was great and the Facilities are fantastic. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone as it caters for most needs. !0 out of 10!!

Room tip: Lake views are best but our room was more than satisfactory.

Situated adjacent to Grasmere lake this can be a quiet spot to rest. We stayed for a week. The check-in staff were helpful, the breakfast was good quality with the option to order specific items from the menu. All staff at breakfast were very helpful, the food ordered was delivered promptly so no complaints. The spa was reasonable quality, the confusion over locker operation that other guest encountered was easily solved by the spa staff who quickly showed how to operate and remained available to assist at all times. Parking can be an issue as this hotel offers lakeside afternoon tea, sometimes attracting 100 plus guests who need to park. Noise was not an issue as we had a lake view room, EXCEPT when the one wedding reception took place. The noise of the disco does travel through the property especially the lake view rooms which are above the function room. However, we were warned about the wedding in advance so were out for most of the evening. We had a leak in the shower which was promptly attended to. The lake view room was massive with excellent bathroom so no complaints. There is an issue a this hotel - there is storage or cardboard boxes, carpets and wooden tables as the bottom of the fire escape!! This is not good.

Recently stayed with the wife and daughter for 3 nights in a two bedroom suite. Can’t complain about anything, great location near Grasmere, beautiful views from our rooms, hotel very clean and really enjoyed our breakfasts there. Our second trip to the UK and have stayed in many hotels, this one is the best.

Enjoyed a very relaxing 4 night stay here in a valley room. We found the rooms comfortable, the food good and the staff helpful and friendly.
Particularly liked the various art works around !
Located in nice grounds with easy access into Grasmere.
Would certainly consider returning here in the future.

Stayed recently for four nights and found the hotel to be good. The disabled room we stayed in was good, with plenty of room in both the bedroom and the en-suite for my electric wheelchair. The room was clean, and the beds comfortable. Our only criticisms of the bathroom were that there was no table or shelf to put anything on, the washbasin was very small (spittoon size), and there was no fixture on the wall to place the hand-held shower into. The concierge kindly arranged a table in the bathroom, and we were advised that our other comments were logged.

We found the hotel to be very disabled-friendly, and used the spa and the restaurant. Breakfast and afternoon tea were excellent. We dined a number of times, and on each occasion the food was good, but the menu is the same every day. A daily special would not go amiss.

Room tip: Room 218 is the only accessible room with a roll-in shower.
