Just had a wonderful 3 days at the Riverside. A well located hotel just over the bridge to the town centre. Good service by all staff, rooms were very clean and spacious overlooking the river , the breakfast was tasty and it was nice to return to the spa after a winter walk. The car park was handy too with no charges for hotel guests, we will definitely be returning in the future.

We stayed here as a base but used all the facilities as they are so nice.

We stayed in a family room and requested a non-pet room.

Rooms are very comfortable and modern. Beds comfortable.

We are in the restaurant, great food. We used the swimming pool- clean too.

Thanks for spending some time here and for your lovely, 5 star review. Happy to have given you a great base from which to explore the Lake District; Kendal really isn't far and also has a great feel to the town too; making it perfect for a base! Hope you do visit again! Thank you.

Nice hotel, nice bar, ok breakfast although sausages both mornings were undercooked.....what a waste no one ate them so must have been thrown both days. Our dog sitter let us down and we asked 2 Days before and they agreed we could take our dog. He loved it and we could take him in bar with us in the evening

Save money on a dog sitter and bring your dog with you; that's a great way to look at it really. Happy you all had a nice stay and that you took the time to post it on here. Always very helpful. Sorry about the sausages; there really is no excuse especially as they might be the best sausages in any hotel anywhere so not being able to try them is galling! Do visit again and we'll be sure to get it right. Thank you.

My partner surprised me with a weekend here for our anniversary. Overall it was a lovely weekend.
We stayed in the Kendal Castle suite the bedroom and bathroom were both up to a good standard and we'll equipped. Unfortunately the lounge area is looking a little tired and the sofa could do with replacing. Also there was quite a draft from the windows but they were being replaced as we left.
We ate in the Riverside restaurant for our first evening. And had the fillet steak which was lovely. However if we had booked dinner each evening we would have run out of options as the menu didn't seem to change. The staff were very attentive and friendly. This is also the room where you have breakfast. The breakfast was good with a selection of cereals and fruits. Also do ask for the porridge it was lovely. The hot selection was the usual. And hot croissants were also available.
We also saw otters from the outside platform which was a great experience.
In a great position to visit Kendal

We are so pleased you had a nice stay during your surprise visit to the area, and most importantly that you were able to see the otters in the river! They tend to be elusive, so that is really a bonus! We appreciate your kind comments about your stay and about the food too! The restaurant menu does change, but sometimes only slightly. We do have a rather large bar menu (as I'm sure you probably know!) that has a variety of dishes available and definitely has more choice generally. Thanks again and hope to welcome you back another time. Thank you.

This is a brilliant hotel but I would never have booked it if I’d noticed it was pet friendly. Room seemed clean but my husband and son were both bothered the whole weekend by their asthma caused by pet allergies. Great facilities and a good location so it’s a pity we won’t be back.

Thanks for your review. We're so sorry that you were unaware that we allow dogs and that your husband and son had to suffer for this! We do thank you for the review as it will let others know that we do allow dogs. If anyone else has a severe allergy to dogs that at least they will know. Thank you.
