“Wonderful stay”
Reviewed 13 September 2010

This is a great guesthouse. The location is wonderful, a 20 minute walk on a quiet, tree lined back road to Ambleside with its selection of restaurants. I also believe there is an interesting off road walk to Grasmere. The hosts were friendly but unfussy and, when they heard we were doing a race, got porridge in specially for us. The rooms are huge and it felt like staying in a small stately home - something that is not reflected in the price which is similar to much more average B&Bs in the area. As other reviewers have said, there was no shower in the (huge) bathroom but though this worried me initally, it was a great excuse to have a long indulgant bath.

Greeted by friendly welcoming owners who were very helpful in recommending activities and local sights.

Especially the ducks that gathered outside the front door from the stream in front of the house to welcome us.

Cleanliness and hospitality of the hosts was excellent and more than adequate.

Breakfast was varied and tasty although a few more sausages would have made it perfect :)

Our room was well sized, quiet and well furnished. The TV was only a portable and the bathroom was missing a shower extension which my girlfriend missed when washing her hair in the bath. Small matters though as the overall experience was very good!

Highly recommended for romantic getaways and quiet retreats.

We stayed at this lovely B&B for two nights, and it was a perfect setting for our trip. The location is brilliant - just minutes away from Grasmere, Rydall and Ambleside, but still out of the city (and overlooking a brook and a field full of sheep :)), there are many walks which begin right at the door! The owners were very nice and informative, breakfast was just fine. The room was clean, tidy and spacious (much more than I expected), including wi-fi, however there is only a huge bath- not a shower head, in the bathroom (we found it wasn't much of a problem).
Enjoy!

This is an absolutely beautiful B & B, fantastic setting, really gorgous location. Nice cosy clean rooms. Really friendly couple running it. Very good breakfast. My only gripe was no shower, just a bath.
