We stopped off here to look for a ‘public convenience’ () and decided to have a coffee and cake at The Sugar&Spice Cafe and Bistro (please feel free to read my review of this wonderful place). When fully refreshed we wandered around the high street and came across the Scottie & Russell gift shop. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. It is not a shop of tat but rather quality gifts that will stand the test of time. We purchased a lovely grey knitted elephant as a gift to ourselves () for a reminder of this trip and some table napkins with wording on that fits ‘us’.

We come to Windermere on every visit as we stay at Limefitt park which is not too far away. It is a good little walk from the top of Windermere into Bowness and is a good way to make room for a portion of chips!! It does get busy in peak tourist times so our pup has to get carried as the crowds can be overwhelming xx

Very busy area even on a cold wet day in February. Plenty of restaurants, cafés and pubs to choose from. Also lots of gift and clothing stores. Parking can be a nightmare.

Windermere is not on the lake, but the town centre has plenty of pubs shops and cafes and the main road leads down to Bowness which is on the lakeside and has more shops pubs and cafes. All the roads are lined with hotels and bed & breakfast accommodation.
