went to blackpool for the weekend with my husband and we stayed at the valentine hotel. what a charming hotel it turned out to be.mick and steve were fantastic hosts, very friendly. mika is so adorable. the breakfast was great, plenty of it. the rooms were really comfy and very clean. we were only 5 mins away from the nightlife. would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

It was a pleasure to have you both here last week. I enjoyed hearing the Scottish twang, made me a little homesick. We hope to see you both again in the future.

We stayed at the Valentine on Dickson Road, Blackpool during the half term holidays for 1 night. From start to finish both the hosts were very welcoming and thorough. We stayed in room 12 on the second floor and although small had everything we needed included en suite, digital tv and very very clean. The hotel did offer a very good priced evening meal but we decided to eat out as only there for the night.

Once we had come back from our meal we sat with the owners in the bar downstaris till about 11. Both were very nice and the little dog mika is a little gem. A couple of other parties were down stairs too sat watching the big tv and it turned out to be quiet a good night.

The breakfast was nothing short of lovely though the morning after. Started with orange juice, onto cereal and then a good sized full english with toast and jams... all polished off with a pot of tea. Partner is not a fan of pork so the guys at the hotel made her scrambled eggs esp for breakfast.... a real nice touch.

Would recommend for couples wanting a friendly & relaxed atmosphere. devo be there again next year!

Had a fabulous time at the Valentine Hotel in Blackpool. Customer service was excellent, food was brilliant, location was spot on and the room was incredibly clean. It deserves the 4*'s and we would go back again!

These three guests (an older woman and her two daughters) had booked a double room through the Blackpool Tourist Office. On arrival we upgraded them from a double with a z-bed to a triple room at no additional cost, saving them eighty four pounds, and we hoped to provide them with a more comfortable room than the one they booked. The room was on the third floor. On the first morning after serving the breakfast, one of the black haired teenagers pointed out a small (1/4 inch) hair resting on her food, the plate was was immediately removed and replaced with a fresh breakfast. As I am bald, and my partner, who serves is grey haired, we have no idea where it came from. The guests were told that the taps need to be run for a couple of minutes to get the hot water up to them from the two water tanks on the ground floor, on three occasions in the evening we were asked to check, which we willingly went up to the room, and ran the water through taking about thirty seconds on each occasion, as they had not run off the cold water in the pipes long enough. On each occasion we stayed and asked the guests if they were happy with the water temperature before leaving them. The hotel was full for the period that they were with us, and we received complaints from other guests on their floor about the banging of the doors, and general noise coming from their room. The rooms are valeted daily, but in the case of these guests, it took double the amount of time, and a thorough clean had to be made to clear up the remains of fast foods which had been brought into the room. The bed linen was changed on two occasions (which is laundered by the local hospital) due to soiling. We endeavour to keep a very clean a comfortable environment for our guest to sleep in. A thorough clean of the en-suites was made daily, and as a matter of course fresh white towels are changed on a daily basis. The proprietor and the chamber maid were coming through the door into the hallway on the ground floor two days before the guests were due to leave, when one of them dropped a suitcase which bounced the last couple of steps onto the hallway carpet. It appeared to us that they were trying to leave without us noticing, but were surprised when we came round the corner. The older lady and older teenage girl threw a mouth full of foul language at both the proprietor and the chambermaid when asked why she was coming down the stairs with their cases. Unknown to the guests the CCTV camera in the hallway has a microphone on it, and we have kept this recording, so we dispute the allegation that we were rude to the guests. We do not understand the reason for this review fifteen months after the visit. Since their visit, the hotel has attained four star status from Visitbritain, and a continuous referbishment, including flat screen freeview televisions for each room, each guest room has been redecorated, and we are proud of the reputation we have attained for our 'home from home' atmosphere created, providing a friendly, quiet haven for our guests. This is bourne out by the many reviews on other websites we are on. Incidentally, we are not sure how Mica can be too bothered about the views of the guests, as she is the hotel dog.
