We got a taxi from the train station to the hotel and were informed that the hotel was famous for being in a scene from Coronation Street way back! (Those of you who are as old as us might remember Alan Bradley being killed by a tram outside The Strand). There's a very small reception area and the staff member on duty there was really pleasant and helpful. We had an executive room with a sea view which was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. We asked if there was entertainment on in the bar that night and were advised that there was, so instead of staying out in Blackpool we returned to the hotel. After a couple of drinks, we were asked to move into an adjoining room as there was a Christmas party group in the restaurant who would be coming down to the bar and would want the seats! We were offended at this, and made the point that as hotel residents who were already seated in the bar and had not previously been informed that we couldn't, we were unwilling to move. Nothing more was said and we enjoyed a good night. I've got to say at this point that the bar staff were excellent, it's a pity that the start of the evening was disappointing with us being asked to move. Now to breakfast the next morning - it was extremely disappointing. It should have been served from 8.30am but the hot food wasn't out until 8.45am. When it did eventually arrive it was very undercooked and tasteless. We had read on previous reviews that the breakfast was really good so we were really disappointed by this. All in all, the hotel was ok and the staff were very friendly, wouldn't recommend the hot breakfast though!

Room Tip: Executive sea view rooms are nice

I stayed for 2 nights for a stag weekend and wanted to stay in a better hotel than the usual B&B. It was nicer but still has the B&B feel to it, rather than a hotel. There is a small bar and restaurant. Rooms were fine but nothing special. It is on the north part of the town but not far from the nightlife. The only problem we had was the breakfast. Lots of things missing from the tables e.g. cups, spoons etc, and when you ask the staff for these things it was a bit of a chore. All the other staff on reception or bar were friendly and always willing to help.

I stayed for 2 nights whilst down on business. My husband has stayed in the past whilst on a lad's weekend and thought it was great. Unfortunately, he must have had his blinkers on, the room left a lot to be desired. The bed was clean, but the rest of the room was dirty and badly needed decorated. The carpet was dirty and badly stained. I informed the receptionist who was going to have a look at the room and have the issues addressed. The staff were fantastic, if the room was clean, I would go back as they were so nice. I have looked again at similar reviews to mine and at the replies from the management. Rooms should be clean at all times and not just deep cleaned at the end of the season. Each guest pays to stay in the hotel, so should be afforded the courtesy of a clean room.

I totally agree with you all rooms should be clean for all guests at all times. Our rooms are clean and I have personally checked the room you stayed in this weekend I admit the carpet is lightly stained in places (being a family room this tends to get stained more often) but the room is spotlessly clean. We are currently redecorating all rooms and deep cleaning carpets a task which is undergone twice a year. With 35 bedrooms in total this takes some time to complete as a floor at a time has to be closed to facilitate this. I can assure any future guests that we do pride ourselves on our cleanliness.

I am sorry to hear that you found your stay with us unsatisfactory. Our staff are usually praised for their efficiency and friendliness and it is unusual for them not to smile. I have had a word with the team working on Sunday morning regarding your complaint to bring this to their attention. One member of staff is upset by your reference to him and feels this is not the place to air these views, which we strongly refute.
Again I have spoken to housekeeping regarding your room, all our carpets and the whole of the hotel undergoes a thorough deep clean at the end of what has been a very busy season to address the inevitable wear and tear.
There was no entertainment on the Saturday because of bonfire night and the lack of guests choosing to stay in the hotel for the evening, prefering to watch the various firework displys in Blackpool.
I immediately respoded to your email which you should have recieved.

An excellent hotel, the staff were brilliant in helping to organise a very special surprise birthday party. They were happy to help me decorate and blow up balloons. The food that was served was brilliant, there was certainly plenty of it. All the staff were very courteous towards the guests and always willing to help wherever possible. The owner of the hotel also introduced herself to us and helped with the evening, she was very friendly and ensured the evening went smoothly. I was very pleased with the hotel and staff in general, it was very clean and well run.

Stayed at the strand on grand national day. From the moment we arrived we had a good feeling about the hotel. All the staff were brilliant and more than happy to help. Amazing seafront location especially when we were sat on the front in the glorious sunshine. Entertainment on a night time was funny and had a great atmosphere. Breakfast was best I have ever had in a hotel anywhere as all ingredients were fresh and of a high standard. Decor of hotel is modern clean and to a high standard. The view from the restaurant is not to be missed. Can't wait till my next visit
