Price is right, hotel has own car park, grand foyer and friendly welcome. Once you get behind that facade you are into an old fashioned hotel, no lift, yes the beds are very firm. The toilet and shower are combined into a wet room. Walls between the rooms are quite thin. The person in the next door room was talking on their mobile constantly from 4 am and you can hear the mumbling through the wall. Room was clean and furniture was probably Edwardian and reflected the building's architecture. It is in a great position for Leicester's Golden Mile but, because of that the street noise level is quite high. I will not be returning.

Room Tip: Book a room at the back of the hotel. It is marginally quieter.

We stayed here for a couple of days this Easter weekend , very welcoming staff and owners but bed was uncomfortable which made my already bad back worse , the very kindly staff and owners, changed our room next day ,to a much bigger room but it was freezing and very loud , can't fault the lovely owners though. Wasn't offered breakfast though so didn't know if it was included . Will go again but would want to have a back room where it might be quite. When it's finally refurbished I would stay again.

Nothing available at the 2pm check in time. Room was very dirty the shower still had hair in in and some earrings?!! Place stunk of cigarettes. Lots of noise from 4am onwards. The bed was falling apart. Staff not interested in our complaints. We were lied to and ripped off. Awful place.

the letter in the room explained it all. A work in progress it explains, 'Grand Opening' later this year... I would wait a few more decades perhaps. The hotel has a musty smoky scent. The room we stayed lacking a smoke detector just a hole in ceiling where once was. Located on the periphery of the Golden Mile a short walk into town and off street parking a plus and the desk guy friendly enough. Bed was clean. Bathroom facilities circa 1970 have a shower and the water leaks through to the room. Window view obscured by dirty sheen. Fortunately a one night stay...

Room Tip: somewhere else
