“Nice hotel, good food good location”
Reviewed 2 March 2012

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst on a training course with work, the hotel is situated in a quiet street only 10 minute walk into the town. Great view of the cathedral. The hotel was very pleasant, quite busy considering the location. Rooms are spacious all with en-suite facilities. Nice decor and comfy bed. There is a kettle and tea, coffee etc and also freeview Tv. Overall nice hotel and would recommend for a get away weekend.

This is a lovely hotel. Very close to the cathederal and old part of the city. I visited in December, when the city was gearing up for its Christmas market and when I went into the hotel bar for dinner, the place was buzzing - clearly a lot of locals call in on their way home. Some people may find it too noisy but I quite liked the hustle and bustle, especially as I was on my own. The food was very good and my room was lovely. I would go there again and recommend it to others.

The hotel was friendly and all the staff very helpful, kind and courteous. The room was very good value for money, warm, comfortable with everything that you needed. I liked the way that the dining room was laid out for breakfast with each room allocated a table according to the number of guests, a nice touch. The location of the hotel is great being up in the old part of the city, a perfect place to be for the beautiful cathedral, the restaurants and excellent pubs. For lovers of "proper" pubs the Strugglers and the Victoria are just down the road, all of about 2 minutes from the hotel

Great hotel in a great location, the room was lovely and clean, and the staff were very friendly. The bar is really lively with a lovely conservatory and outside seating area. The car park opposite is really handy and not at all expensive as the hotel pays half the fee. We had breakfast in bed and and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will be going back again.

Lovely position - facing medieval castle walls; very obliging staff. Pleasant comfy room. Good meals.

Only issue was = v hot when I stayed! Hopefully they have the central heating now under control....

Room Tip: Upstairs facing the castle walls
