We booked an apartment with Wot if which was for Sienna Apartments, Hatten Garden. We were sent to this other apartment block bu UMI HOTEL. All single beds in a 2 bed apartment the most awful beds I have ever tried to sleep on!!! and the only art work on the walls were cork boards. We spoke to 2 Umi hotel staff who stated this was not a student dwelling and was in fact a better apartment block than Sienna Apartment. We never got a decent explanation and since we were there. Definitely not good enough if you see the pictures of what was advertised and paid for and what we got. Bathrooms though big enough need updating completely. There is also no ceiling lights in the lounge area or bedrooms only floor lamps!!! and student law books etc in the bookshelf. Yeh I believe it's not student accomodation!!!! NOT. Another disappointment was not a grain of salt or teabag in the cupboards either. All other place we have been have supplied a token amount of coffee, tea and sugar etc. Would never have anything to do with Access Apartments again and ashame I didn't realise before we left the hotel that it was a totally different place or I would have camped there till we got what we paid for. VERY DECEPTIVE WAY OF DOING BUSINESS.

Room Tip: Dont come to this place.

We checked in at UMI Hotel in Bayswater was told to wait till 2pm to know where we will be going. They don't tell you the location of the apartment during booking until you arrive at UMI Hotel and only after 2pm. So we didn't even know how we should plan our movements since they kept the location of the apartment a secret till very late.

Good thing, they provide free transport to the apartment from UMI Hotel. We had booked a 2 bedroom apartment, which was basic but OK. All kitchen and other appliances worked perfectly. The maintenance people were not on site but could be reached by phone and will respond in a few hours, depending on what time you called.

Being with little kids, we feld opened windows posed a danger as kids could slip and fall of the windows, but we improvised and put stools to block the access from kids.

The apartment was clean, but could have been cleaner. The apartment was in Farringdon, bus station just across the street which takes you to the Farringdon tube station and back just 2 stops away. A 7-11 type of shop (Tesco) was just 4 minutes away and pubs and places to eat was within reach.

Overall, will book again with these people.

most stuff was broken, did not have anything you might need from an apartment in the city, no tea towels, no dish detergent, not coffee plunger, no teapot, no plug for the kitchen sink. We didn't book an apartment so we would have to carry all these things with us, not set up for travelers at all. Internet was extra despite misleading claims. Would suggest you keep looking there must be better.

We booked this apartment for 4 nights near Christmas for our family of 6. The location is the only thing this place has going for it. It was expensive and nothing in the apartment worked properly. The appliances included a dishwasher with a short that worked only with voodoo, a washing machine that kept our clothes wet and captive--would not spin so door would not open and a toaster that only toasts on one side. The t.v. did not work. The hot water heater was non-functional half the time and scalded the other half. The bathroom fans did not work so the apartment smells of mold. The only ventiation to the apartment is the windows that will not close so leave you in a draft all night. The beds are horrible! There is nothing stocked but clean sheets--no towels, no soap of any kind, no broom, but we're supposed to clean up the kitchen before we left. We asked for clean towels and toilet tissue and that was too much trouble. Such a great location deserves a bit of maintenance.

I stayed at the Access City Apartments in Islington (Macclesfield Rd) with friends. It was a perfect apartment for us as it was close to the main tourist attractions, clean and comfortable. The rooms were a bit sparse in terms of decor, but for the price you pay its definitely worth staying here. We had an apartment that could sleep 3 people and it was quite spacious with a seperate lounge, kitchen, bedroom (with a bunk and a single) and bathroom.

We had several problems with this place. The hot water pressure in the showers was very weak and if you turned on a tap anywhere else in the apartment your shower would shut off, not get cold, shut off completely. It made having two bathrooms pretty useless and irritating when 5-6 people were trying to get their day started and had to wait turns. Also didn't help that there were no towel racks for the one little towel given per guest.

The washer/dryer didn't work. It would wash and keep washing, for hours, and never dry. After a couple of days the management replaced the unit but that one also washed but didn't dry. We complained again, the management came down showed us the 'proper' setting but that didn't work either. We had sopping wet clothes hanging on flimsy racks through most of our two week stay.

Management was very reluctant to respond to issues. The first night there the waste disposal unit broke and flooded the kitchen floor with rancid water. We called management and they wouldn't come in until the next day (and only after two more nagging calls). We asked for extra keys, didn't get any, had to make do with one set. The phone had been vandalized with '666' and 'Satan Rulz' tags, there was no number posted on it so we couldn't give the number to the airline when waiting for lost luggage. We mentioned it to management, they did nothing about it, didn't even let us know the number. Oh, and there was a fire alarm the first night, the building's guests evacuated onto the street and waited for someone to show up. Management never arrived, the fire brigade came by about 20 minutes later, flipped a switch and left.

The beds. Were. Terrible. We asked for three sets of single beds, got 5 beds and a bunk. They were all metal frames with the cheapest child's mattress you can find, everyone in our group had sore backs from sleeping on these awful beds.

Overall, it's cheap, barely a step up from a hostel. The neighbourhood is a dead zone so load up the Oyster card if you need supplies or want to see anything interesting. If you're young and can handle roughing it in this still relatively clean and warm place, then fine, give it a go. I don't recommend it to adults looking for some comfort. And bring batteries for the tv remote controls, no one seems to check those either.
