We were given a voucher as a Birthday treat for her which we used in April ‘18.

We started off with the cocktails, which were perfect - however slightly pricey if paying separately - so normal drinks followed those.
The starter was delicious, however don’t fill up because of the main...
Wow, what food. We did pay a supplement on top of our voucher but it was definitely worth it. We had the Rib Eye Steak and beef Wellington and both were unbelievable.
We just about had room for some pudding which again didn’t disappoint.

Service was great from arrival to leaving.

DO NOT come to the Middlesex street venue if you have a buggy, there is nowhere in the restaurant to accommodate it, and you will be constantly subject to tuts and dirty looks from staff and clientele.

Some other lowlights:

-chaperoned into a central table with no privacy, asked to move but not possible.

- Steak was tiny and on a par with Tesco value range in terms of texture.

- The pate starter was runny with a similar consistency to cat sick.

- Combined with obsessed waiters cross-selling wine and expensive side dishes. They were visibly annoyed when I refused to buy any wine.

-Their ceiling minted heater was continuously blowing hot air onto faces. Like sitting in a sauna minus the therapeutic qualities.

- The Creme brioche desert was like water under the top layer, it’s as it’s as if the chef was trying to get us to leave.

We arrived promptly for our evening booking but were asked to wait at the bar as our table wasn't ready. One could be cynical and wonder if this was a ploy to get us to buy drinks while we waited. However, as we were not allowed to check our coats, scarves, hats (it was a freezing night!) until our table was ready, we weren't really interested in trying to enjoy a drink at the same time as clutching bulky winter apparel. After a short wait our table was ready and our meal could begin.
Starters were fine but the toasted sourdough accompanying the ham hock terrine was so hard you would have needed the teeth of a Rottweiler to bite through it. I wondered if the bread was stale to begin with and toasting it just finished it off. The waitress quickly replaced the bread with some small brioche buns so I could then eat my starter. Steaks were all amazing - couldn't fault them. We paid a supplement for Beef Wellington but it was wasted money as the puff pastry was soggy so steaks were removed and pastry left in a mushy pile at the side of the plate. The side dish of greens with lardons was very nice, as was the creamed spinach, but the green salad with herbs was hideous - horrid tasting oil - and the house fries were pretty skinny so just got soggy the moment they touched the sauce. I was the only one who wanted a dessert and chose the vanilla cheesecake with berries. This was tasty enough but the base wasn't firm so just disintegrated into a lot of biscuit crumbs the moment I placed my spoon into it.
Overall it was a nice evening, the service was efficient, if not particularly friendly, and the wine was very good, but for £320 for four of us I would have expected a bit more for the money.
