“Great little London hotel”
Reviewed 19 March 2012

Stayed here for 2 x nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I used the hotel to attend an exhibition at London Olympia which is a short 10-12 minute walk away.

My room was comfortable and spacious and extremely modern. In fact the whole of the hotel has a very contemporary feel to it.

The hotel offers free Wi-Fi and the breakfast offering was good.

Everything was rather good, but rooms are extremely small!!!
Staff is rather friendly and helpful!
Reception is not on the ground floor - You have to go upstairs but receptionist helps us with luggage.
NO LIFT! Please note this.

Room Tip: if You're bigger then 80 kg then don't take single room! )

We spent a weekend in London and, knowing we had a table booked at nearby Babylon Restaurant (Kensington Roof Gardens) we opted to stay at this hotel. We didn't realise at the time of booking that it has a sister hotel at the other end (nearer to Kensington Gardens and also Babylon) but there is little in difference in distance either way.

On arrival the small, single-door entrance is slightly off-putting, in that it suggests a small property. Indeed, it is just that, but please don't be put off by this comment - it was simply our observation.

The man on reception was very helpful and came down to help us with our luggage as there is a steep staircase to reach the small reception area on the first floor.

The reception area is hard to describe; slightly odd, a bit quirky and by no means a sterotypical front desk arrangement. In fact, our initial impression was that it felt like an upmarket guest house / hostel in terms of the layout which had the reception desk doubling up as a bar with a small stock of wine and spirits. There was also a fridge stocked with a small selection of beers and soft drinks. The seating area, whilst small, made for a pleasant setting for breakfast the following morning.

We had booked a junior suite and we were expecting quite a plush room from the description. We were given the choice of a second or third floor room - we chose the latter. On entry we were disappointed with the room. Whilst it was clean and tidy, it was very small and hardly worthy of its 'Junior Suite' title. It felt like a small 'standard' room in all honesty. When we opened the door to the bathroom we were hit with the most awful, acrid smell, which we assume was drains or something equally nasty. It was so bad that we called reception immediately and asked to move. The reception man was very obliging and didn't hesitate in arranging this for us, so we moved to the equivalent room on the second floor. This room was far better than the original room in every possible way - better decor, more natural light, more windows, nicer bathroom. It was completely different to the first. Nonetheless, we still struggled to justify the room category as a 'Junior Suite'. It was, however, clean, well-appointed, air-condition and had a fantastis shower. Wi-Fi was available throughout the hotel free of charge.

Continental breakfast was perfectly acceptable. A good selection of the usual offerings - cereals, toast, pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurts, etc. Coffee and tea was prepared and served by the same reception man - we have no idea when exactly he got have any sleep! In fact, he was the only staff member we saw during the whole 24 hours we were there!

All in all it was fine but quite expensive for the room size and not a 'wow' experience. Nonetheless, its location was perfect for where we needed to be and so we don't regret the choice. We would be interested to see the other two hotels in the private chain. The third is in Hammersmith apparently.

Room Tip: If choosing a Junior Suite, the second floor (201) is better than the same on the third floor

It may be unusual to write a review before one has even left the hotel but as I lie here stifling in a Lilliputian room at 5am, I thought I'd do it before my annoyance subsides.
This is the type of room that is so tiny that the ensuite door bumps into the bed when you open it. Despite fiddling with the room temperature control, I have been unable to get the temperature down to a comfortable level.
And opening the window is the last resort, since this room (207) is situated right next to some sort of generator that keeps up a continuous low-level droning and intermittently roars into action, sounding akin to a plane coming in to land. I'm staggered that anyone could charge upwards of £100 to stay in a noisy box room. I'm sorry, but the stylish decor and free wifi do not address the hotel basic of offering a good night's sleep.
The chap at the reception on arrival was unsmiling and curt; not the kind of welcome I would recommend when there are so many other hotels in the vicinity. The hotel address is given as Kensington High Street but it is actually a tiny entrance on a side road. My son's comment as we arrived was 'You've got to be kidding me!'
Sadly, I kid you not. If the breakfast turns out to rival the Wolseley's or the hotel agrees to offer me a 'noise and heat' discount, I will ammend this review. I wish I could add a sound clip of the noise, since it has just started again.

My wife and I used to live in London, so when we found this hotel around the corner from where we used to live, we booked a room straight away. We were not disappointed. The hotel has a real boutique feel to it and we loved it. The staff were all extremely helpful, from carrying our bags up the very steep flight of stairs, to serving us drinks while we waited in the lobby for our airport transfer. While the rooms are quite small, they are very clean, comfortable and relatively new. The hotel is located on Kensington High St and is a short walk away from Hyde Park / Kensington Garden, the main Tube and bus lines, plus a great selection of shops, restaurants (the Michelin awarded Kitchen W8 is opposite the hotel entrance), gallaries, museums, bars and pubs. This has become our hotel of choice when visiting London.

We were very pleased with the location close to the tube at High St and the bus stop. Great shopping and food. Service was excellent. Rooms are very small however if you need somewhere just to sleep, then excellent value . Rate included a great continental breakfast.
