The Hide London is my best bet recommendation after visiting high-end and medium-priced hotels in preparation for July/August 2012 for the Olympics. Relatively new, it opened in September 2010 and is quite modern. It is a very short walk to Hendon Central subway station (the Tube). Wembley Arena is close by via the Tube, and Central London only a 15 minute ride from the Hide London. Great location!

The rooms are clean, very nice quality, plenty of room, sufficient electric sockets (remember GB has their own unique electric plugs, so bring them with you!), wonderful HD television, powerful twin shower heads, high quality linens on bed, and free wifi.

The included continental breakfast was quite nice with a good selection of fresh coffee and tea, bread, jams, cheese, pastries, fruit, meats, cereals and other traditional English breakfast fare - all fresh and tasty. Alas, bacon and eggs are not to be found here. The breakfast room is very nicely located at the rear of the hotel in a bright room.

For the Olympics, I believe many visitors will travel with a great deal of money, invaluable event tickets, and, or course, Smartphones. For that reason, the rooms have an electronic safe which left me very relieved. Also very important to me with the minifridge, where I was able to safely keep both medications and some food for my dietary requirements.

Given the "total cost" of attending the Olympics, I am not going to shy away from recommending a cost saver nearby: There's a shopper mall called Brent Cross with a food market called Wagama and many other interesting (and useful) shops . I shopped there for lunches to save on pubs and restaurants, and recommend Wagama for anyone staying at the Hide London for the Olympics.

I was there in late April when the outside temperature was extremely comfortable, but I expect Olympic visitors will appreciate the air conditioning. With no elevator, ask for a ground floor room if you can't make it up the stairs (not very wheelchair friendly). Also, I noticed noise on the side facing the street, while my room in the back was blissfully quiet.

Finally, the best of my stay: the owner, the receptionist, and the dedicated staff.
Everyone working there seemed totally dedicated to the happiness of their guests, and the hotel is run more like a private home where they welcome family visitors. The staff alone make it the best of the best of the medium-cost London Olympic hotels. Good luck in getting a room!

If it's not for the Olympics, you'll love it throughout the year.

The staff is really very nice!!!! The hotel is very modern and nice. The room is small but clean and also very modern. There is a mini bar, which is re-filled daily for free! Breakfast is good and you van choose between various kinds of food.
I can absolutely recommend this hotel!!! It is about 2 minutes walking distance from the tube station and about 20 minutes from the city centre!!

We booked this hotel for a recent overnight break to celebrate my friend's 40th Birthday. The party being in Highgate meant that we were reasonably local. I was encouraged by other reviews and took so took the leap and booked.
We were not disappointed, the room we opted for was an executive room booked direct with the hotel on their website for £115 per room inclusive of breakfast.
The room was perfect, room number 1, situated on the ground floor not far from reception and the main entrance but over looking the rear of the property to avoid any road noise. This hotel is situated on a very busy main road so well worth requesting a rear facing room.
The room was well proportioned albeit more of an outer London double size. Lovely modern fixtures and fittings, LCD HD TV and a room tray with lovely biscuits and a good selection of quality tea. The shower in the bathroom lovely and powerful and had two shower heads! The toiletries all very nice and pleasant smelling.
Breakfast the following morning was plentiful and a really good selection of pastries, cereals, fresh juice and tea/coffee brought to your table. The fresh fruit was quite literally mouth watering. Their was ample free parking for guests immediately on the front of the property and it is only a 2 minute stroll to the nearest tube station. So you need not use your car at all. We used a taxi booked for us by the hotel to get back around midnight from Highgate at a reasonable cost of £12. Staff all very friendly. It took us approximately 30 minutes on the tube to get to Oxford Circus if you were looking at getting into central London.

So areas to improve really their are three points that stop me calling The Hide excellent they are;
1) The need to replace the bathroom towels. They have seen better days, they are tired and tatty NOT fluffy large bath sheets that you would really want to see in their.

2) The butter/Flora portions, Smoked Salmon and cold meats were not in a chiller!!! Scary!! The were sat in the direct sunlight literally cooking in the morning sun...... danger alert. PLEASE PLEASE invest in a small chiller to put these things in.

3) As the breakfast room was self serve it had a toaster in their on constantly this had turned the room into a sauna really unbearable. I did mention this to the member of staff who was going to put the air con on. But by this point I had to make for the exit as the heat was making me feel really unwell.

All 3 things need to be addressed by the management, they are simple to do and would make a huge difference to the overall guest experience.

Fingers crossed this review is read by them as we would sure stay here again

Everything was as reviews I'd read before booking; free car park, excellent continental breakfast, complimentary water, chocolates and L'Occitane toiletries in room, lovely decor, helpful staff and only a couple of minutes walk to Hendon Central underground (25 mins to Covent Gdn) or Brent Cross Shopping Centre. Let us leave car parked until early evening although we'd checked out, which was really useful to us. Only minor drawback - towels are not of same standard as everything else on offer, but that's being really picky! Will definitely use next time in London.

Room Tip: Rooms at rear will be quieter as it is on a very busy road

Oue second stay at the Hide London and this hotel is as good as our first stay a year ago. This time we got the room facing the carpark which is much quieter. Overall, we felt very comfortable and welcome once again.

We still see the came familiar faces and it was like meeting old friends again despite a year absence. Rajen, the manager recognised us immediately. It rained during our 4 nights stay at the Hide London and Nelly offered us an umbrella to use for the durastion of our stay.

Coming back after 11 pm from a wet day trip to Paris, Dill at the reception counter, made us a complimentary pot of tea in the dining room.It was a very nice gesture as it was a cold and wet night.

The hotel arranged a taxi to Heathrow Airport which arrived on time. It cost only GBP 30 for the fixed rate fare, much more convenient and cheaper than taking the tube and the Heathrow Express for the both of us. Service is always given with a smile and spontaneous. My wife called for an iron and in less than 3 mins, Nelly was at the door with the iron and board!

Breakfast is marvellous with good quality items. Wifi is free in the room and the drinks in the fridge as well. The hotel is constanly in a tip top condition and very clean unlike many of the hotel in Central London which are old and in need of upgrading.

The day ticket for the ungerground inclusive of ulimited rides on buses costs GPB7.70 and it takes half an hour to reach central London. Travel to Central London takes half an hour. Not really a big issue for us as we are never in a rush on our holidays. For a change, it is nice to take the bus as you can do some sightseeing along the way. Travelling time is almost the same as the tube.

This hotel is definitely our choice whenever we decide to visit in London.

Room Tip: Book the more expensive room as they are bigger and away from the street noise.

Having stayed in a real mix of London hotels this one really is a find. A few stops north on the northern line and only a 3 minute walk from the tube. Trendy furnishings and nice freebies of water and hand made chocolate. Very helpful about sorting out an iron. Nice breakfast and offer of wifi.
