“small, but thankful for the booking”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2011

we ended up needing to stay in london for an extra night, and had to make a booking just so we could get 5 more hours sleep. no other hotel could take us, so we walked along paddington until we found the brunel hotel. the woman on reception was so fantastic and welcoming, it was wonderful. the room was very small, and the guests around us were very noisy, however were grateful for the room so all was good. you get what you paid for here...

paddigton is a very nice and well organized area just a few stations away from the center of london. the hotel is very close to the metro and bus station ! i went a trip with my friends so we didn't need something special.. a cheap hotel that meets our basic demands ! the hotel was clean and was next to the metro , nothing else.. everything was just basic ! we didn't expect something better if you take into account the amount of money we paid.

ps. if you are searching for something a lot better but also much more expensive is hotel "indigo" also in paddigton. i went there with my girlfriend

The double room was so tiny we had to store one backpack on top of the cupboard in order to be able to move - the other we placed under the desk. The cupboard could only be opened 20 cm. The carpet looked like something from World War II - very dirty. The window could not hold open - we had to put the only chair in the room in between the bars to hold it. The bathroom was ok, though, and the towels and sheets were clean. The breakfast was very good - order tea, not coffee, since the coffee was always cold.

The hotel is a few steps away from Hyde park and from Paddington making it a good location. The hotel is basic. I only stayed there once and had a room in the basement. I could clearly hear the underground passing near by... so avoid the basement !

I must say I stayed for one night only. We needed a hotel in Central London, easy to access from Heathrow airport. I agree with all the bad reviews, but don´t forget that you are in London. You are supposed to sleep in a shoebox. We took the Heathrow Express from the airport, and the Paddington station is just 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Make sure you exit on Praed St, then turn right. The hotel entrance is just 5 blocks from there. How great is that?
The down side is that the room is tiny and the breakfast poor. But I never expect a resort when I´m in London. Unfortunately, there is no safe in the room. I think that´s a must

We were 2 female friends on a weekend break. We had read the negative reports about this hotel but could find nothing else for the two days we wanted and so booked and decided to keep an open mind. The location cannot be faulted and from the outside the hotel looks just fine, but our room was like a shoebox, old and very shabby. Peeling paint, one plug that could not be used as it was so close to the table top. The bathroom was tiny, dark and had cracked floor tiles that moved when you walked on them. When we turned the shower on there was a small trickle coming from the shower head, it looked as thought it was blocked with limescale. As we were only staying one more night we stuck it out but just wanted to inform potential guests that the awful reviews on here are very right! On our final morning we paid £2.50 more for a full english breakfast, the sausages and tomato were rock solid, and the bacon was some sort of processed meat that was shaped like but certainly not bacon. Before we had drunk our tea the staff were vaccum cleaning the floor around our feet! We have stayed in many London hotels and this was just appalling.
