I hadn’t been to the mayflower for years. The original plan was to do an 11 mile walk along the river and stop here for lunch, the weather had other ideas so just booked a table for lunch.
Good idea as it gets busy.
The staff were attentive and friendly. Got a table upstairs in the restaurant by the window with a view straight out onto the river. It is a beautiful old pub.
The menu gave plenty of choice and there were additional choices on the specials board.
The food was nice, good size, nice veg.
The only thing I would say is that it needed a bit more seasoning.
The moules in a giant pot on the next table smelt amazing.
I resisted dessert but it was hard with offers of crumble or sticky toffee pudding!
Good wine list too!
Hope to go back again when the weather is a bit nicer still bI can sit by the river in the sun.
