We are all saddened by your review of the National Hotel. We have recently gone through a full refurbishment and yet still offer quality rooms with shared facilities to ensuite to suit all budgets.
I don’t understand why you would think a night at the National Hotel would only be worth £25, we are centrally located in Muswell Hill, London.
All we can ask is future guest see past this bad review and checkout our other recent reviews stating we are a clean, comfortable budget hotel located close to Alexandra Palace.

Enjoyed a one night stay at this hotel in a good location in Muswell Hill close to shops and bus routes. The room was clean with comfortable bedding, the bath and shower were good with plenty of hot water and the staff were pleasant. Good value for money.

A short but bracing walk to the Ally Pally. We stayed for two nights and the staff could not have been more accommodating. The hotel is old fashioned but, my goodness the heating works well. Have never been so warm. Good basic continental breakfast. Very comfy and convenient. Will be back next year

Ideal if you have a car and staying here as they have a car park at the back of the hotel and 4 spaces at the front for larger cars. Friendly staff check in was quick. We were a couple of floors up so if poor mobility check floor as no lifts. Room was cheap so basic but clean - had a shower and tea/ coffee facilities shared toilet down the corridor. I think some rooms have toilet so check when booking. Breakfast was served 8-9:30 we were continental good range to choose from - help your self type - 4 cereals to choose, fruit , fruit juices, croissants, toast range of breads, yoghurts. Close to the Alexander Palace if coming to London for an event.

Stayed for one night. Room was clean and tidy. Booked via booking.com. Has parking. Close to Alexandra Palace (15 min walk or £6/7 in a taxi). Shower was on a hot water pump. Plenty of power but not a lot of hot water. Room came with soap, shower gel sachet and towels. Plenty of room but very warm in the room and no air. No lifts in the building but nice simple dining room for breakfast, which was decent. Staff were pleasant. Can't really complain other then the shower. It was one night and did the job. Bit pricy but I'd stay again.

Firstly this hotel is a short walk from the night street and a 10 minute walk from Alexandra Palace. However... here are my criticisms:

1. Desk lamp didn't work
2. Plug sockets in the room were inadequate as normal uk chargers wouldn't fit in the sockets.
3. Tv Remote broken
4. Towels were mouldy, and stained... which when complained about we were given a fresh one.
5. Sink blocked, upon comparing we were told nothing could be done about it by reception... a new room would have been nice.
6. Rooms get very very hot and lack of a fan was apparent.

Bed was ok, sheets clean. However the above complaints would mean I avoid it at all costs.

Happy Hoteling.

My sister and I booked this hotel as we were attending a gig at Alexandra Palace.

We walked to the hotel from Highgate Tube station, it took around 20 mins.

From the outlook the hotel looks ok, it is in a desirable area.

We were greeted by a friendly gent at reception whom checked us in with no hassle. We were staying in room 30 which is on the top floor with no lifts, luckily we only had an over night bag.

The room was quite warm with no fan available, the window opened but wouldn't close properly.. we risked leaving it open after all we were on the top floor.

The room had a double bed and a single bed, walk in wardrobe as well as a free standing wardrobe, dressing table, desk with small tv & kettle cups glasses and tea coffee sugar. The bathroom was a decent size, the roof was on an angle so you had to be careful how you stood in the shower so you didn't bang your head. The only down side wouldn't be the lack of plugs available.

The breakfast on a Sunday is served 8am to 930am. It was beautiful too, a full English cooked to order, toast to help yourself along with crossiants and cereals, water, apple juice and orange juice was also available along with tea and coffee.

It has a decent size car park too.

It is walking distance to the town.

Would definitely stay here again at the price we booked it at.
