“Great price and location, perfect for Eurostar, British Museum....”
Reviewed 23 January 2012

At Leigh House, wifi and breakfast are included for a very reasonable price. The hotel is easy to find (actually on corner of Leigh and Marchmont street), right close to the Eurostar, British Museum, the student area, and all the great shops and restaurants in Bloomsbury.

The staff are really welcoming, as has been noted by virtually every reviewer, and all in all its a great find. My company normally puts me in a hotel 4x the price, and they charge for internet, so I shall definitely see if I can use Leigh House instead.

One small complaint - my room... It is tiny (but that is fine - this is London and the price for an en-suite was very reasonable), but also a bit noisy since it was just behind the reception, and also onto the street, which is quiet in of itself, but what noise there is does come through. Next time I will request a different room, and perhaps management could double glaze or take measures to reduce the noise in that particular room. .

I read the review TheTitch wrote recently and I feel there is nothing else to add but fully agree with every single word! Btw an excellent, detailed review :). The thing is that it all boils down to what you need and expect. The facts are that the hotel is at a great location, the staff is friendly, there is fresh food for breakfast every morning, tea and coffee in the room as well as a hair dryer, the rooms are very clean and there are fresh towels provided on a daily basis. It is small but there is plenty room for a several-day stay (a longer stay might be troubling because of lack of space for all the clothes and souvenirs! :)). I also liked the fact that they offer to keep your bags if you arrive before the room is ready, and that the room is exactly as it looks on the hotel photos. The two negative things I would point out is that there was no air-conditiong in our room what could be a problem in the summer, and that there was no computer for the guests. They do give you the username and password to use their wireless Internet, but I was counting on the computer as well. Overall, I would glady return and I highly recommend it to everyone who is looking for a hotel like this one.

Leigh House is a very small hotel tucked in a corner of Bloomsbury. Rooms are tiny, amenities average, typical English breakfast included (with baked beans, weird to Americans but tasty if you want some starch for energy). But what makes the place is the hotel staff, both front desk and food servers/housekeepers. They are friendly, and extremely helpful with tips about local restaurants, travel schedules, sightseeing suggestions. You get a real personal experience here, which is part of what makes London so special.

Me and my partner stayed in this hotel as I had a conference in London and we planned to make the most of it by doing a bit of sight seeing in my free time.
Location:
The hotel was easy to get to and about 10 mins walk from both Euston station and Kings Cross St. Pancras (overground and underground). Russel square tube station was about 5 minutes walk away. There was convenience store over the road, and Brunswick shopping centre 2 minutes walk away. Lots of places to eat and the hotel is within walking distance from the British Museum (10 minutes) Madame Tussauds (20 minutes) London Zoo (30 minutes) and the British Library (5 minutes). We also visited The Natural History Museum and Science Museum which were both 15 minutes on the tube from Russell Square. The hotel location made it easy to access these sights. We had no problem navigating the streets and the tube - much easier than expected! The Natural History Museum, British Museum and Madame Tussauds are a must-see!

Room:
We stayed in the double room in the main picture on this page. It was small but very, very clean and nicely decorated. The ensuite bathroom was bigger than expected when you see the size of the room, and spotless. The cleaner was in everyday and we had fresh towels. There are a few negative points though, there is a busy street and a pub over the road so there is some street noise (although it is a lot quieter than you would expect it to be). The street noise did not bother us that much, but the walls and ceilings of the room seemed painfully thin. We could here every movement from the room upstairs and we had a particularly noisy guy in the next room who kept us awake one night. I think it was a combination of thin walls and the guy being unusually loud. If you're a light sleeper this may be a problem. However, the staff were great at dealing with this and asked the guy to keep the noise down. Another negative is that the lock was broken on the window to our room. Not such a major issue as we were on the first floor but still enough to make us weary of leaving belongings in the room.

Hotel:
The location is great, the hotel itself looks nice although a bit small. The breakfast room is pleasant and the food was OK. The full english consists of 1 sausage, 1 rasher of bacon, 1 egg, a grilled tomato and beans which sets you up for the day. There is also a wide choice of cereal, toast and spreads, fresh fruit hot drinks and fruit juice. The staff were really, really friendly and helpful. They gave us a city map which gave us 20% discount at many sights and attractions. They were also happy to oblige when we needed extra tea bags, milk, sugar etc for our room and offered to look after our luggage on the last day.

Overall, I think I would prefer a bigger room if in future if I was staying more than 2 days. But the room was spotlessly clean, which is the main thing and staff were friendly and helpful.

This hotel is very handy for King's Cross station and Euston Square. The staff are very friendly and the free wifi and included breakfast is a bonus. I stayed on the first floor, which had a pleasant outlook. I agree that the room is on the small side, but I had a closet and chair and had enough space for one person. The only negative would be that because it is so central it is really quite noisy ( all night). All in all, a good stay and very good value for this area of central London.

Room Tip: First floor seems to be the best option, but which ever room you get, please pack some earplugs if y...

The hotel was in a good location for Kings Cross station and very reasonably priced. The room was on the ground floor and very very small. No wardrobe or chest of draws in fact there was no where to keep your clothes. The windows are not double glazed and the hotel is on a cross roads so it is noisy on a night. I was still awake in the early hours of morning due to noise outside. On a positive note the breakfast was okay and the staff very polite. In summary, very small, reasonably priced, noisy outside.

Positives: Location of Hotel, Very polite staff, Clean rooms, Nice decor, Breakfast, Free Internet (wi-fi).
Negatives: Reception area is non existent and just a small area (approx 3 x1mSq) with a cubicle for the staff to take bookings, payments, etc. This is very uncomfortable especially when other guests are waiting to check-in/out, and as there is nowhere to sit and wait other than on the stairway which I see as a hazard. No air-con in rooms.

Windows are double glazed which helps as there are some pubs near the hotel which can be very noisy until early hours.

I would stay at Leigh House Hotel again.
