We were lucky to find an Amazon voucher for Champagne afternoon tea at the Rafayel and have just returned home after thoroughly enjoying the food and view.
Lovely sandwiches, great scones with jam and cream, cakes and strawberries and marshmallows to dip in a chocolate fondue. Friendly staff, great view and delicious food.

We had the chocolate afternoon tea at the Rafayel having purchased a voucher from Amazon Local. Having read some of the reviews we were a little concerned that it may not be very good, but were pleasantly surprised.

The staff were extremely attentive and we were given fresh drinking water as we sat down and then asked what we initially would prefer - champagne or a chocolate cocktail. We both opted for the champagne which was genuine champagne and not prosecco as some reviewers have said (a fresh bottle was opened for us). We were then served enormous 'finger' sandwiches which were extremely fresh and delicious. Were they dainty? No - but the bread was lovely (both white and brown) and the fillings generous (smoked salmon/cream cheese, coronation chicken, cucumber/cream cheese, ham and mustard).

Following this were could select our choice of tea to have with the cakes. The cakes were then served - four scones (2 plain/2 raisin which were warm) with a generous serving of jam and clotted cream; a selection of chocolate cakes - huge slices of chocolate fudge cake, two chocolate macaroons, two delicious chocolate 'fancies' which tasted superb; fresh strawberries and marshmallows to dip into the chocolate fondue which was served at the same time.

My husband chose English Breakfast tea and I had lemon grass and citrus tea which was lovely - these were served in individual pots, and pretty teacups. I'm not a frequent tea drinker and there could be some criticism that the tea was made from teabags, but it was nevertheless very fresh.

It was a very nice tea, we did not feel hurried whilst eating and the staff checked on us periodically. The view across the river was particularly lovely as it was a sunny day.

The only thing we were disappointed about what that the Amazon Local deal claimed that we were getting the tea for half price with the voucher, and this was not the case as the tea was advertised by the restaurant at the same price we paid. However, this was hardly the Hotel's fault.

All in all a good chocolate afternoon tea at a fair price at £35.

Fantastic view with heaters to make sure that you don't get cold even in a London Summer. The food was great - fantastic choice. My daughter and I really enjoyed our meal and will definitely go again.

If you looking for a different high tea experience this is the place. Off the beaten track but very enjoyable.
Rest assured there are no dainty portions here and the food is of good quality.
We sat outside literally on the Thames.
Service was friendly.
