I took my wife here yesterday for a chocolate afternoon tea treat, using an Amazon local voucher. The setting is nice, on the banks of the river with views over to imperial wharf. I went for the chocolate orange martini which was a bit different but nice. The sandwiches were tasty but not very delicate, what was served for two could of suited four! I was a bit disappointed with the main cake stand. The menu on the advert talked about warm chocolate chip scones and chocolate spread. What we got was one plain and one fruit scone, some jam and cream. The cake layer was also a let down with two large slices of what seemed a pre bought gateaux, then one tiny macaroon, one tiny profiterole, a tiny square of coffee cake and a fruit tart. My wife was really looking forward to the chocolate fondue, but this was also a let down, about 6 strawberries halved and a few marshmallows. Could of done with a lot more fruit! The hot chocolate at the end was nice enough but nothing better than you'd get at Costa. Bit of a let down overall. Good service but the food didn't match it.

The sandwiches came up on a plate and they were very large, should have really been finger size. The cakes were disappointing and the fruit tart was positively soggy. Scones were quite nice with the cream and jam but overall very disappointing, especially as we took some really good friends there.

We were lucky to find an Amazon voucher for Champagne afternoon tea at the Rafayel and have just returned home after thoroughly enjoying the food and view.
Lovely sandwiches, great scones with jam and cream, cakes and strawberries and marshmallows to dip in a chocolate fondue. Friendly staff, great view and delicious food.
