“Great room,handy location”
Reviewed 7 March 2012

I stayed here on points (I'm a Platinum member) and have never been able to afford to stay here (even though my employer recompenses me).

The room was feature packed with a separate seating area, a sumptuous bed and giant TV.

I never ate in any of the restaurants but visited the Blackfriars pub a few times which did a great line in mulled wine and hot cider.

This was a birthday treat for my 7 year old son and the hotel really made him special. We arrived early on Saturday and they made sure that we had a room there and then and as a IHG member upgraded us to a much better room. The icing on the cake has to be though that when we returned from the theatre on the Saturday night they had left a slice of cake with Happy Birthday written on the plate ready for him. Small things like this really make a difference. This is a great location for seeing London, especially with Blackfriars tube station now open just opposite the hotel entrance. Thanks again for a great weekend.

Stayed here for an impromptu overnight after my flight home got cancelled.

The hotel is very well located close to the river and just across the road from Blackfriars tube station. This really is a standardised, business focused hotel and I'd only stay here for leisure if the rate on offer was at a good discount.

Everything is really much as you would expect from a large highish quality hotel chain. Reception staff were nice enough to upgrade me to a deluxe room and this was pleasantly fitted out with good space and a large very comfortable bed.

fantastic location in the city centre by the river, just next to the Millenium bridge, opposite to the Tate Modern. The hotel is suítuated into the yard and a side street, so rooms are absolutelly quiet. Furniture, cleanliness and services are very good. Only one thing - we were 3 persons having a dinner, a waiter confused by starters, main courses and drinks that we had been repeatedly changing, he forgot to order 1 meal... He was shocked when realised the mistake and the drinks were for free even I didn´t ask for :-) it may happen, I liked the solution.

I have stayed at the Crowne Plaza on business and have to say overall it is an excellent business hotel. The rooms are modern and spotless. The communal areas are also very welcoming.

There are a few complaints though that drop the rating. Firstly some of the rooms look directly into the offices opposite to the point where you can read their computer screens (I can only imagine the views they sometimes have to endure). I was not warned about this at check in.

Secondly on check in their system was not working properly. Normally this would not be a big problem, but as a result the room I was checked into still showed as vacant. This caused a maid to enter my room without knocking whilst I was getting ready for a shower. Highly embarrassing on both sides.

Finally on having decided on the a la carte breakfast, I was very frustrated on having to ask for Fresh orange juice 3 times only for it to arrive after I had finished my breakfast and to discover it was in fact some foul concentrate, rather than the advertised freshly squeezed.

A lot of the problems seemd to stem from a large number of traineee staff on duty, which may explain some of the lapses. I will certainly use the Crowne when I next come on business, as it seems an excellent hotel. I just hope for less silly problems next time, esp. considering a standard room cost over 200 pounds excluding breakfast and wireless.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking the offices

My sister and I were going to see a show, as we both work in the city it made sense to stay up in the City.
I was very impressed with the hotel, clean, very welcoming and the breakfast was faultless.
As we had to be up for work early I was very happy they start serving breakfast early and the 'tea/coffee to go' was a great little idea.
I also had the best night sleep! I put this down to their choice in pillows

Overall I would stay here again for sure
