“Great location - beds could be better quality.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2012

Great location, initially our room had a window to no where. Couldn't make temp controls work. Went for a walk. Still wouldn't work. Called 2x regarding and was told they'd look into it. Room was crazy hot. There was a window that when opened made room less stuffy but it literally went no where. Ac unit making a racket and tossed cigarettes out on a ledge. Had room switched when my husband asked for help. The front desk didnt know anything about it! New room ac worked wonderfully. Bed though very saggy. Two people rolled to the middle. Made me sore from trying to hold to side. Yes - food and drinks very expensive but location of this hotels great and made up for everything. Walking distance to everything. Didn't take a taxi or the underground anywhere except one time when wee were running late to a show. Bathroom was very good and room size was adequate.

The Trafalgar Square is just across the road. This hotel is in the centre of London. If you're into musicals, you can reach nearly every theatre by foot. We could see the eye of London as well as Big Ben from our window. Both are ca. 10 - 15 minutes away (walking distance). Piccadilly circus is "round the corner". All in all the location is just great.

The only thing to complain about is cleaning or better to say the service of your room, especially cause we had only one set of towels even though we booked a room for 2 and they don't give you a new showergel even if you started one already. It seems that on the first day of your visit they just don't give a **** when they clean your room. It usually gets better if you stay some more days ;-)

Just to warn you - there are no bathrobes and no slippers, but a hair dryer and an umbrella.

I was expecting all the pictures of the hotel to be inflated images of what the hotel was actually like because I booked the hotel at a really cheap rate (under $200/night)... not only was the hotel true to the pictures but its location was almost too perfect. Check in was nice and easy and they let us check in at 12noon which was great. The room was clean and our stay was comfortable. The hotel is walking distance from Oxford and Piccadilly. There are many cafes, pubs, and restaurants around the hotel. Im trying to think of any negative points to get a general idea of the place and the only thing i can think of is that housekeeping was done after 3pm, which is later than what im used to but it might just be the english standard?

I wanted a good hotel with good location and amenities. I got it all except for the amenities. On a Sunday the restaurant was closed and the bar shut at 8:30pm and their excuse was that a separate company ran the bar so they had no control of it. I would not stop here again.

just to mirror so many other reviews, we had an excellant stay in The Grand. we only stayed 1 night.. we booked a double room, and initially were given a twin, we went straight back to reception where they apologised for the mistake and immediately sorted our double room out.. very helpful. Bed was comfy, shower lovely, we did manage to get a room with a view which was nice (althou not really important considering the curtains are closed, but always nice).. complementory iced water, tea/coffee in the hall of each floor was great (u always seem to run out of tea I find.. but not here!) We booked via hoteldirect.co.uk and managed to get a really really good deal! Would definately recommend and we'd stay here again anytime...

Room Tip: we stayed in 303 which looks out to the front of the hotel, you get minimal noise, but the occasiona...

The location of the hotel is it's selling point. Considering the fantastic location the rates are very reasonable. Very grand lobby/reception area. Lovely to walk into. Staff were helpful. We booked a standard double room & found the it to be a decent size. Plenty of storage space. The room was clean and the bathroom had plenty of fresh towels. Although the room rate was reasonable, the bar drinks & breakfast were expensive, but I suppose what you expect in London. Just two negatives, the room was cold during the night, although we had set the temperature to 23 degrees & the lifts are very slow. I will definitely stay here again.

Did not like first room offered but second choice was acceptable
small bar and you could easily mistake the reception for the concierge .
Friendly staff and great location
