Food and service once inside were great. Left with bad taste in mouth afterwards due to experience before and after. We had a 2.15pm booking for lunch on a Tuesday. We travelled from Birmingham and were a bit unlucky with public transport, arriving 15 minutes late. To our shock (& disgust) we received a phone call at 2.27pm (12 minutes after our booking time) stating the kitchen was about to close so we might not get served. We arrived 2 minutes later, but in that time received another irate voicemail stating the kitchen is about to close. The frosty reception, awkwardness and gossipping staff on arrival made for a horendous beginning to our meal - we would have preferred to have been turned away at the door. I understand it is a business and being slightly late was my own fault, but there was a certain lack of class about how it was handled. Jean-Claude was great as mentioned, but I'm afraid the restaurant has been tainted and we won't return.
