Description: Legendary for a good reason, a discreet entrance in Covent Garden with a simple plaque on the walls invites you to enter the legendary Joe Allen Restaurant. The best kept secret of the London crowd: its laid back charms and wholesome food have kept the capital's diners returning for more. The restaurant buzzes with a warm, friendly atmosphere. The service is friendly and informal and the wine list is extensive. Whether you're looking for the best brunch in London, a quick pre-theatre meal, for an atmospheric lunch, dinner, or a late supper after the theatre, Joe Allen offers it all. It is the perfect destination for someone searching for great food, whether in casual dress or something more glamourous.

Courteous and friendly welcome at the desk. Service staff friendly and knowledgeable about the varieties on the menu. Restaurant full-to-bursting and the staff on top of things. A real buzz about the place. We plumbed for the Joe Allen burger which didn't disappoint. Started with Crispy Squid (me) and Vegetable Tempura (the Mrs.). Desserts: Pecan Pie (me) and Vanilla Cheesecake (the Mrs.). We enjoyed a caraf of Tempranillo - good value. We were regulars at Exeter Street and wondered if the Joe Allen concept/experience would transfer . . . well, it did seamlessly. I booked online with no hassle. Received a text in the morning before dining - good reminder . . . but we are unlikely to forget our booking.

Nice restaurant, attentive staff, good food. The beef ribs were the best we have ever had. Great position near theatres and Covent Garden.

What a perfect match. To choose an excellent performance in London and to complement it with a very good dinner and a good bottle of wine in the theatrical environment of Joe Allen's restaurant. A friendly place, excellent decorated with a good selection of not very expensive dishes and a good variety of wines.

Came here for a bday dinner. It was a great setting with live pianist and good food and wine. A little expensive for what you get but I guess that is down to the area. Would come back again.

Visited the previous Joe Allen’s gave it an easy 5*. That’s why this review pains me that I’m only giving it 3* now.
Unfortunately the move didn’t bring it’s fabulous atmosphere. The menu has changed and not for the better. I ordered the garlic bread to start but what I received can only be described as garlic crisps at best with a ridiculous amount of salt. As for our mains, it was the equivalent to the most basic of restaurants.
But most disappointing was that we couldn’t hear the pianist as we were seated upstairs.
It was nice, but unfortunately not nice enough for me to return again.
