Fantastic branch of the original Dinings, an easy walk from Knightsbridge tube station. Excellent service, helpful and knowledgeable saki sommelier, superb cuisine. The Iberico was beautiful and the lobster and tomato miso soup was rich and delicious. The chef made us a special 'inside-out' sushi which was a stunner: wagyu beef on the outside, sushi rice on the inside and fresh sea urchin on top. A bit noisy but only because everyone is having such a good time!

I am so glad that I read the reviews about this restaurant only after we had visited as they mostly bore no resemblance to the experience we had this lunchtime and I might have been deterred from going at all. Sushi is a personal favourite food and we have been to many Japanese restaurants; this restaurant is amongst the best both in atmosphere and quality of food.
We sat at the sushi counter and witnessed the painstaking work that the chefs put into the dishes which translated into tasty, mouthwatering offerings. The double baked aubergine was delicious (and not cloyingly sweet) as was the salmon, eel and tuna nigiri to which the chef had already added a brush stoke of soya sauce so no messy mishaps in the sauce dish! The tar tar chips (tacos- one bite per taco) were fun and fresh - we had crab, salmon and tuna each with an interesting twist. The black cod was delicious as always and the shrimp tempura roll was outstanding. While the wagu burger was somewhat disappointing as it was slightly soggy, the tempura shrimp burger was enjoyable. Vanilla ice cream finished off the meal together with a black sesame ice cream which was surprisingly good- both served on a transparent circular plate filled with iced water which was great. The complimentary bento box of chocolates (wasabi truffles etc) were beautifully presented and tasty.

We washed the meal down with a delicious white burgundy and copious amounts of water and the total cost (including service) was £178. Not cheap but we did not come away thinking that we had paid over the odds. We will certainly be going back and, in better weather, might just venture out into the garden area which looked very sweet.

As you enter the restaurant the chefs shout a hello in unison. This was fun, but from then on it was downhill all the way. True, the food is pretty good on the whole, but the portions are very small and prices are remarkably high. But what really struck us was the shambolic service. Normally I wouldn't bother commenting on service in a restaurant review, but it was the main thing we remembered from this visit. Dinings is tiny, and a good waiter or waitress could easily cover all the tables. Here they had an abundance of staff all of whom seemed to visit our table at different times to repeat questions, but not to bring the things we had ordered - most noticeably the glass of wine, requested 3 times. This was probably the smallest glass of wine we've ever seen, and it was expensive to boot. (To be fair they did take this off the bill.) We've been to Dinings several times over the years but this will be the last - a shame because it's in our neighbourhood.

I wasn't expecting a bargain but at these prices I expect exemplary service. I do not expect, when I have told the staff I have an allergy to be served with food containing that item not once but four times. An unforgivable lack of care and attention.
The food was delicious although the portions are tiny so to eat enough to satisfy a family of four be prepared to remortgage!!

You can pass this great place without noticing. As in Japan, it's a very small place but this means all is made just to order. apparently the menu gets updated multiple times a day depending on fish delivery which includes local waters as well. Service was very personal and going for an Omakase menu is highly recommended. Food and presentation was great. Love the scallops and the Wagu specifically.
