This was my first time staying here as usually stay at a nearby hotel for football but read reviews and thought I would give it a try. I am glad I did - room was very clean and well equipped, price was significantly less than my usual hotel. Staff on check in were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very well located and very central for all amenities. Downside was that it was a little noisy on the main road, but would expect this given the location. Would recomend and would return

Stayed here for 1 night with my family, 4 of us. The room had a double bed and the bed settee was made up too but not the rollaway as requested. Luckily for us we had our futon with us in the car so just carried that in too for our youngest son to use. Room was clean and fresh with a modern look. Bathroom bright and modern too. The view of our room on the 2nd floor was of the square opposite, quite a nice view of some traditional buildings with fountains too. Slept ok but the bed was a little soft for me and tended to roll into the middle. Breakfast in the morning was fine. All of it was set out in a small room just set off from the main dining room, the waiting on staff were very attentive and pleasant. Would stay here again if in the area and would recommend.

Room Tip: Drop luggage off if possible before parking - stairs not luggage friendly.

Hi YummymummyB

We are delighted that you found the hotel to be of a good quality! I do apologise that the sofa bed was not set up in advance and if you had contacted reception they would of been able to quickly get this set up for you. I will certainly review this and ensure it doesn't happen again.

It is great to read that you found the team to be attentive and pleasant and they can't wait to welcome you back very soon.

Best Wishes,

Mark Winter (General Manager) and the team at the Holiday Inn Express Middlesbrough - Centre Square

The Holiday Inn Express is a nice clean hotel in the centre of Middlesbrough, convenient for matches, gigs etc. We paid £5 for parking in the Cleveland Centre car park and we could come and go as we pleased.

A word of caution for those less able and with young children: If like us you arrive in the evening, drop off people at the door before proceeding to the car park. When the shopping centre is open you can use their lift ( the car park is above the shopping centre) followed by a short walk. Out of shopping hours you have to walk down 3 flights of external stairs which isn't fun especially in wet weather.

The hotel itself was fresh and clean. Our room was a fair size and nicely set out. Bonus points for a snazzy bathroom. Our room overlooked the square and old library. It's a nice view but there was some noise from revellers rolling home in the early hours. Not unexpected in a student town though.

Breakfast was a let down. Whilst the selection is good, the hot food is not the best. The sausages had obviously been cooked long, long ago and were encased in a hard, thick brown crust with only a small part of the inside edible. A more cynical person may be excused thinking that they had seen more than one breakfast. The bacon was tough as old boots, I gave up trying to cut mine as did the man in the next table, he couldn't get a knife through it!

A nice enough place to stay, just don't get your hopes up for breakfast!

Hi KJWads

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us here at the Holiday Inn Express Middlesbrough - Centre Square.

I am over the moon that you found the guest bedrooms to be comfortable and that you took a shine to our bathrooms...I have to agree they are very refreshing!

I do however apologise that the contents of the hot items were not to your liking and I have since reviewed this to ensure that the hot items are catered for all our guests. We also have our team on hand should you prefer your bacon to be a bit crispier or vice versa, at the end of the day we want you to leave loving the hotel and our team will do their up-most to cater for all needs.

I do hope that the breakfast does not put you off from visiting again in the future as I can confirm I will ensure this does improve.

Best Wishes,

Mark Winter (General Manager) and the team at the Holiday Inn Express Middlesbrough - Centre Square
