We were warmly welcomed by our waitress and quickly shown to our table in the bar area of this busy, bustling restaurant.

The choice of wine by the glass is very good, so we started with a glass each of Vermentino which was full of flavour while we made our choices from the menu.

We started with:
Fried baby squid, aioli and watercress
Char-grilled bacon, blue cheese, pear and walnut salad

And to follow:
Smoked haddock with shrimp and pea risotto
Parmesan gnocchi, butternut squash, kale, Norfolk Lady (a soft, pasteurised, ewes' milk cheese made near Wymondham)

The starters were delicious as was the haddock, but the gnocchi dish was disappointing. It was lacking flavour except for the Norfolk Lady cheese which was excellent. We chose to drink a Sauvignon de Touraine ‘Les Croix des Champs’ which was rather ordinary for the price.

It was lovely to see the restaurant so busy but I'm afraid it did raise issues with service. The service, although friendly, was extremely slow. Our main course arrived an hour after we’d ordered which was really too long to wait.

Visited last week on a cold January evening and ate in the bar area which was very inviting- warm and cosy. We ate from the bar menu and basically chose comfort food, pork belly, venison pie, cheese and biscuits. Everything was delicious and served piping hot. The house red wine was very good and we were served by a very helpful and pleasant waitress. A great meal and I can’t wait to return!

We had a fabulous evening of delicious food, vibrant, friendly atmosphere and lively birthday celebration chatter between myself, husband and two adult sons. It has always been our favourite restaurant, and we are always reminded why each time we visit. We were looked after by Stuart, Emma and their wonderful team and enjoyed a delicious dinner; steaks for the men, cooked to perfection, and I chose the catch of the day; a melt in the mouth, tender lemon sole. The wine list is impressive and we decided on a delicious bottle of red, as recommended by Ecky and James, which complimented our main course as always. With no room for a desert each, we shared a couple of tempting dishes between us to finish off our perfect evening out. With thanks to all and looking forward to returning very soon.

Not been there for some time, having had a rather odd experience when we felt very isolated being the only people in the restaurant section. This time both the base and restaurant were humming and had a great atmosphere. Waiting staff were delightful, attentive but not fussy and very patient - (esp Grace). The food, especially the meat was very good, My wife was a little disappointed with the 'special' - the sea basses being overcooked, but my starter of the mackerel and main of steak were great.

Good atmosphere friendly staff but food was quite ‘ordinary’. Nothing wrong with menu or food to note but more like a mediocre gastro pub than a restaurant. We did have a table in the bar area but that shouldn’t have meant the food was different as the price is the same.
