Host was friendly and welcoming. Stayed in room at back of B&B up 1 flight of stairs. room size was ok, plenty of towels, had own ensuite. Bit too many cushions and pictures, felt a bit cluttered. Bed was very low to ground and not very comfortable. Had duvet on bed in August, so was very warm, there was change of bedding in draws, but couldn't find anything lighter. Bathroom was a tight squeeze for my husband who was 6ft tall, and smell of damp. Advert said toiletries provided, only had two bottles of hand wash and satchet of shampoo and conditioner. Tea and coffee making facilities, loads of choices of fruit tea, but it was out of date and tea bags lying around loose with no covering. Kettle had been readily filled with water, realised unable to refill due to small WHB. Also stated free parking on road, but it was upto you to find space, host only had three parking permits, which were all used up. Could have worked out very expensive. Managed to find free parking on the outskirts. As we don't use the car when in Whitby it was not too much of a problem. Room next door had separate bathroom, across corridor, which disturbed you in the night
Breakfast was served at 8.30 and did a selection of cereals and full English. Very good location

My wife and I have just returned to Kent after a 5 day stay at the Joben Guest House in Whitby North Yorkshire.
It really was one of the best, if not the best guest house we have ever stayed. The owner and hostess (Jill) is a lovely, friendly lady. She really made us feel at home and nothing was too much trouble. The Joben's location is also very pleasing because although not right in the middle of town like some of the hotels in the area of the harbour, it is a 5 minute walk from the centre of town. We liked it because after being out all day sampling the delights of Whitby, it was nice to get back to the Joben, located just far enough away from town to give us a break from the seaside and afford a little peace and privacy.
My wife and I are already talking about going back in the future and ofcourse staying at the Joben.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 2. This room has a bathroom for the exclusive use of the occupants of Room 2.

My husband and I stayed at Joben Bed and Breakfast earlier this week and couldn't praise the place high enough. Jill was a brilliant host welcoming us both in. Advising us where to park and offering us lots of advise on where to visit nearby and the best restaurant's and pubs. She has lived in Whitby years and was born there so knew all the best spots. The room was lovely. We stopped in the en-suite room, comfy bed, little treats for us next to the kettle. Nice personal touch throughout. The breakfast was actually unreal! This was one of the main reasons I chose this b&b above the rest! I heard great things about Jill's breakfast! Set us up for the day to explore the beautiful town of Whitby. In general this b&b offers everything you need. A pieceful nights sleep. Great breakfast. Value for money. Central. You can actually see the Abbey if you walk 3 seconds out of the front door. Definetely recommend. Had a perfect stay. Thanks Jill. We'll be back!!

Jill is a good host., but unfortunately the room let her down badly. It was very small, cluttered and fairly clean with an "ensuit "crammed into the corner. Certainly not value for money. Made worse by the fact that we'd spent the previous 3 nights in a 3 star hotel with full facilities for only £9 a night more than joben

We stayed at Joben House guest house for 2 nights at the end of June with our dog Cookie. Jill is an amazing hostess whom nothing is too much trouble. Accomadation is very clean and comfortable with everything and more you could need for a short break. The breakfasts have a wide choice and variety however we recommend the full English as this was delicious. We had a fantastic stay in Whitby made all the better by Jill and her lovely ,if not hidden, guest house. Minor downside is there is no parking outside but less than 200mts round the corner is an excellent car park literally the next road down.
