Just back from another fantastic, three night stay at The Waverley and loved every minute of our mini-break.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed back like family members and we were allocated our usual room, which was spotlessley clean, and as ever, very well presented. Stephen and Julie provide you with a very comprehensive guide to Whitby, which covers many local attractions and restaurants, including places to go within the surrounding area.

One of the highlights of The Waverley is the excellent breakfasts, which consists of a choice of cereals, homemade preserves and a full English breakfast if you desire. However, the choice doesn't end there and you can even have yourself a famous Fortunes kipper, if you give the required notice...!

A testimony to how good The Waverley is and what brilliant hosts Stephen and Julie are, is the number of familiar faces we encountred during our recent visit. We spoke with many fellow residents, who we encountred during our last visit...!

Whitby is our perfect UK holiday destination and if you are planning a trip to this beautiful part of the world, I would highly recommend you stay at The Waverley.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.

We are pleased that we still come up to the standards you have come to expect and that once again you enjoyed your trip to Whitby.

We have fewer reviews than many but, as you know, we do not solicit them which makes it all the more pleasing when anyone takes the trouble to write one. We will always aim to maintain the highest standards.

Good look to you with your new business venture and we look forward to seeing you on your next trip north.

This was a return trip: there is an easy atmosphere, I was made to feel at home. The room was spacious and recently decorated with muted good taste. I learnt that the use of local produce even goes as far as the beds - very comfortable! Luckily stayed long enough to sample Fortunes' kippers, as well as the excellent locally-sourced Yorkshire breakfast.

Room Tip: The hosts have extensive local knowledge!

I came to Whitby to launch another book at the Whitby Bookshop and stayed to meet lots of friends throughout the Gothic weekend, having already spent a wonderful week at The Waverley during early October to attend the Bram Stoker Film Festival.
As always, there's a fantastic, friendly, helpful welcome from Stephen and Julie and I love staying at The Waverley. The rooms are clean and very comfortable, with all the facilities I need to keep me comfortable while I'm away from home (TV, WiFi, en-suite, lots of drawer/cupboard space). And the breakfast is so very good, it even tempts a confirmed night creature like me out of bed in the morning!
The hosts are always on hand to help or give very good advice on where to go and what to do around Whitby and the surrounding area - without ever being intrusive and I've often followed restaurant recommendations with great satisfaction.
In all, I can guarantee anyone staying here will decide to return over and over again.

Passed yet another fabulous holiday here with Julie and Stephen this year. Rooms (as always) immaculate and everything one could need for a short stay. Food without reproach and their local suppliers maintaining the quality we have come to (almost) expect. Hotel well-placed to be quiet during the night and yet only an 8 minute walk from the sand or the town. As Arnie says (or used to) - "we'll be back"!

Great town, fabulous location. Stephen & Julie were great hosts. What was extra special was their great local knowledge and recommendations on the local sites and great places for dinner. Breakfast was great! We had a room at the top that was very spacious and nicely appointed. It was very quiet in the area and in the room. Also, a very nice touch was the DVD's in the lounge that we were able to borrow to view. There is no on-site or street parking, but then this situation applies to anywhere in Whitby. However, there was a large parking lot down the east end of Cresent Avenue at the promanade. Budget to pay 5.00 GBP overnight and have coins, not notes. Would definately stay there again.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. There is a little confusion over the parking situation as we do have some on site parking but it needs to be pre-booked (3 spaces and 6 rooms). Street parking is OK everywhere on West Cliff except where there are yellow lines and it is very unusual for someone to have to use the pay and display parking. Sorry that aspect was misunderstood.
