Booked in advance for 4 adults to make sure Lobster was available. Whole thermidor lobster served with chips and spring onions tempura - delicious!! Tempura courgettes are usual but spring onions were good.
Lovely local service and probably the best lobster we have had there (we have had a few).

Always busy and the queue was still there at 8.30pm.

Revisited the Magpie 2 years after the last visit. Still lovely fish and chips. Nice and hot. Fish fresh and delicious. My favourite place for fish and chips in Whitby, if not the UK.

Never before have I witnessed a member of staff treat a customer so rudely. I was behind a customer who had two young children. He asked the member of staff to help him put their food into the box and she replied 'there's a table there do it yourself' in a very rude way. After plating up his food he asked them where they could find a bin and she treated him like he was rubbish, not a customer paying a LOT of money. Cannot believe how rude and unhelpful the staff member was. Terrible treatment of your customers.

We were enjoying a very lovely day out in Whitby, all of the family there (17 of us in total!) and it's safe to say our day was ruined by the experience we had buying fish and chips from the Magpie Cafe.

The staff were EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful, and the chips were nothing special either.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. There are plenty of other fish and chips places along the same stretch of the harbour so go there instead!

Myself and friends visited the Magpie restaurant after many recommendations, I can honestly say that it is a welcoming restaurant with very good staff. The haddock chips and mushy peas I had, quite easily the best I’ve eaten followed by a naughty but also extremely tasty treacle pudding with custard. I must give a personal mention to Lynne, we had a lovely chat as we were leaving best customer service I’ve received in a long time. Thank you all Definitely return on our next trip to Whitby.
