Sometimes the first choice isn't always the best and in the case of the Cranberry Swamp, this was true. We had gone elsewhere and when we were ignored for 10 minutes up and left, straight into the very inviting Cranberry Swamp.
The cafe is very homely and quirky in design, very welcoming indeed. The cafe was very full which is always a good sign, so we ended up on a relaxing sofa area.
Menus were on the table and full of things to tempt every taste, particularly those with a gluten problem as the Cranberry Swamp is all gluten free... Even though, we weren't looking for anywhere specialising in food allergies, it is good to know for the future.
We read the menus and decided upon an eggs royale, typical eggs, bacon, hollandaise and English muffins (gluten free of course) and a baguette. The baguette was toasted, spread with sun dried tomato, topped with caramelised onion, roasted veg and goats cheese. We ordered a side of sweet potato chips with ali oli dip as well. The waitress was very efficient and took our order after a brief pause to choose. We ordered drinks in the format of Greens gluten free Pilsner lager.
After a brief wait, we had our food and it was delicious too. The eggs royale were perfectly cooked and soft yolks too. The baguette was very delicious and extremely tasty, definitely one for a hungry traveller.
The sweet Potato chips were well cooked, nice and soft with an excellent dip of Ali oli, all in all all an excellent impromptu lunch.
Beers were very tasty too... Price was £22.50 for 2, but we both left very full and will definitely be back.
