We only stayed one night here on a quick stopover in York while traveling between Edinburgh and London. The staff were friendly and helpful, offering clear instructions about parking and good information about how to reach the local attractions as well as tips on getting to the train station on time considering the local traffic patterns. The location was extremely convenient to walk to the main sights of York (we visited York Minster and Betty's Tea Rooms) and the room was comfortable though a bit crowded.

The bathroom, and the house itself, could do with some updating on fixtures and decor, but were not dirty. The internet was sporadic though they were clearly trying to fix the issue by having several different networks available for guests to use. I cannot comment on the breakfast as we had a very early train to catch and did not eat at the house, but they were setting up at we left and it all looked nice.

Overall, it was sufficient for our needs and provided a good night's sleep in the location we desired. The value for what we paid was decent, but if luxurious appointment and an upscale feel is important to you, plan to look elsewhere.

A very well positioned guest house for York.Once parked the carwas not required as all attractions were within good walking distances.
Room was fine and food was pleasant. The owners were very helpful and made the stay in York very pleasant.
Would recommend.

First the positive. The staff preparing breakfast were all quite nice and worked quickly. The breakfast was good with full English or they were happy to modify it. The room was tidy and clean, bedding was nice and bed was comfortable. The location is good with a 10 minute walk to the center of York or to the rail station. However, the room (we had room 7) was small. We had to negotiate when we wanted to move around the bed. Only one at a time. The shower was odd, the way you turn on the water and adjust the temp and the shower head could not really be removed and if you tried you would dump your soap. Also, the wash basin had two separate faucets. The hot was scalding hot and the cold was icy. So those were your choices. Also, internet service sporadically stopped working at different times for various periods of time. When it was working it was fine but suddenly it would stop working, perhaps for a few minutes or for an hour or so.

We stay for two night and had a lovely time. The guest house it's self is in a great location to York and the surrounding area. The bed was very comfortable and the staff very helpful and happy. Yes the dinner is a bit on the small side and breakfast was a bit early being between 8 and 9 but that won't put us off from staying again in the future. The food was ok. All in all a hidden gem in York

Stayed here for 2 nights, nice clean bedding and towels, but room very dusty and windows were awful, dinning room to small and very cramped only grapefruit on offer not good when on meds and you can't have so poor choice there plates cold so food went cold very quick, was never asked if we wanted anything never saw owner on on first day when asked to pay for room before we had even seen it never heard of this before good side very close to centre. Very tired thought you got very little for money they charge
