We stayed here on the 3rd September, the hotel is lovely, clean, staff approachable and friendly, nothing too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent. We had a premier King suite which was quite big. Comfortable bed, lovely shower. We contacted reception at 11pm as we could not get tv on and someone came up immediately. Hotel is a ten minute walk from city centre would definitely stay there again.

Arrived early evening and due to being heavily booked there was no parking spaces. Told that the side streets were available but that meant getting up early so declined that . Hotel has around 15-20 parking spaces with over 40 rooms. The receptionist offered the duty managers help with parking by lea Bing the keys and him moving my car into a space when available which was nice of her. I declined this and settled for a carpark 5 minutes walk away and a £10 for 24hrs parking card. This was ok for the night. The room was large as was the bed but the cleaning had not been thorough as there was an empty biscuit wrapper just under the bed at the window side. The shower was one of those exercise showers! Ok, too hot, run out, ok, too cold, run out and so the circle continues. The shower was hard to get in out with the toilet being so closed although there was a glass shower door but it flung open as was hard to push and made me wary of smashing it. The lighting in the room was a little subdued and the wallpaper, curtains and two single Seats matched perfectly being the same fabric. This was mirrored in the bathroom. The food was tasty though the full yorkshire was a little bit small when you think premier inn charge £12 for an all you can eat buffet. The continental choice was nice if not a little over done (croissants and pain chocolate) no ham and cheese or bread but the selection that was there was adequate. There were several different cooked options for breakfast. Overall a nice hotel within walking distance of york centre. A little dated and in need of tlc to bring it back up to its 4 star status. ALL staff were very pleasant and couldn't do enough for you.

One tip. Book direct. Hotwire put over £100 on top of the hotel costs and didn't include breakfast even though it was asked for. The hotel kindly did this free of charge.

Dear Lespotter

Many thanks for your comments. If you could let me know which room you stayed in, I will look further into the maintenance issues raised.

All the continental breakfast items are included in the price of the full Yorkshire breakfast with ham, cheese and bread available to order from the kitchen. I very much hope you did not leave the Brasserie hungry!

I trust you enjoyed your stay in our wonderful city and I hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back one day.

Suzanne

Arrived extremely early fr check in, but was told it was fine to leave the car in the hotel car park whilst we went to explore York for a while.
On returning to the hotel to check in, we were told we had been upgraded to a premiere room, (bonus!).
We were given room 10 on the 1st floor. Very specious, neat, very clean and tidy. Only thing we found slightly amiss was the hotel website said there was A/C in the room we had booked, but that wasn't present in this room, (not a major drama as far as i'm concerned!)
Back off out and about in York for a few hours, a quiet drink from the 24 hour bar, then off to bed.
Breakfast? Marvellous. A massive choice, (full english, vegetarian full English, Continental, Smoked Salmon etc), never seen such an extensive menu for breakfast to be honest!
And when it came, (i had the full English, the better half chose the ham & cheese option), it was to die for!!
Staff couldn't have been more helpful, lovely clean hotel, in an ideal location for exploring the city, (5 minutes walk)
Would recommend it to anyone.
Many thanks for a lovely stay!!

We booked this hotel on secret escapes for bed, breakfast and evening meal.
We arrived by train and it was about a 20 minute walk to the hotel. We were told on arrival by the hotel staff that there is a shorter route if you are walking. We used it on our return and it took about 10 mins.
We were given a lovely redecorated room, 42, we couldn't have asked for anything more. It was very large, a huge bed, big flat screen TV, settee, big bathroom all recently refurbished. Absolutely fabulous.
The evening meal was in the Ivy restaurant downstairs. The menu was slightly limited but that didn't bother us in the slightest. Food was excellent as was the restaurant and served by a very attentive and pleasant gentleman. There is a small bar attached to the restaurant which serves local beer. Very nice too.
Breakfast the following morning was served in the same restaurant. Choices were varied and the hot breakfast could not be faulted.
Wifi is available throughout the hotel. We found the signal was good in all locations with no dropouts.
We found all the staff we met first class and very friendly.
Towards the end of our stay I was actually trying to find something negative I could say about the hotel. I couldn't find anything at all.
We loved the hotel, and the service we received. Thank you The Grange.
