We were part of a group of 19 ,we booked well in advance for eating in the hotel on the day of arrival, the area they allocated to us consisted of small square old wooden painted tables in poor condition pushed together to seat numbers of 6 and 8. These tables had no linen no place mats just the bare wooden top , this is a 4 star hotel supposedly , the food was ordered for 7pm , it arrived 75 minutes later at 8.15pm.
My meal was a starter of 4 small chicken wings ,the main meal was a burger in a bun with a dozen or so chips the main meal of burger arrived first followed by the starter of chicken wings , for this I was charged approx £23 , when I booked with booking .com the meal prices were stated to be £12 breakfast £13 lunch £15. Dinner , but the hotel will not honour these prices because the meals were not ordered through booking .com , so you book the hotel assuming the prices are set only to find you're paying double in most cases. The hotel manager just wasn't interested in doing anything and referred me to booking.com.. had the ambiance of the hotel ,the quality of the dining furniture and the speed of the food been all up to 4 star quality we may have just paid the extra and put it down to experience , the following day we went a mile up the road to the Hungry Horse had a cracking top notch meal on time in a far better environment for two people for £15 ,we went there again the following evening.
All that said the room we stayed in was excellent clean but lacking in such things as glass tumblers for the bathroom which we brought back from the bar .
