We brought a team of athletes over and our first conversation with the staff member was that we were to tell the kids (13-17years) to be quiet and remember that they are in a family hotel! They hadn’t even got inside before he had made an assumption of their behaviour. The rooms are outdated, poor service and no breakfast facilities despite having paid in advance for it. Management were rude. They did not deal with our complaint about noisy guests although they were quick to tell us that the adults were walking too loudly on the upstairs floor!

Stayed 6 weeks Sept/Oct 2020 under Covid conditions. The hotel was fine as a working base. They don't do food, but the pub next door is very good value. Hotel needs a bit of TLC starting with a coat of paint on the outside. Will stay again when work takes me back to the area.

I had a really rough stay here recently. The hotel weren't expecting me and weren't convinced that the only remaining room was clean and ready.

I eventually got in the room and found it to be grubby. Normally it wouldn't bother me that much but during covid pandemic, it doesn't make for a relaxing evening. The TV remote didn't work, the bathroom was dirty and not very good.

Then someone in the room opposite got off his face on sleeping pills and an ambulance crew spent almost an hour helping him in the corridor outside my room.

But worst of all was the food in restaurant next door. The Greene King pub next door was grim. The food tasted of fat and grease and was mostly burnt. Really really don't recommend eating in there. Go to bed hungry rather than eat in there...
