Description: Shanghai Shanghai Chinese Restaurant & Bar has just recently opened a branch here in Nottingham! We quickly became one of the most popular Chinese Restaurant in the Nottingham. Our restaurant is situated at the heart of Nottingham’s city centre, we are conveniently located; just within walking distance from the Victoria Shopping Centre, the Lace Market and Nottingham’s premier "TrentFM Arena" complex. We are also minutes by car from the Nottingham Trent Univerity(Clifton Campus and Beeston). The Cuisine here is traditional Cantonese style, typical of what you would find in Hong Kong. We are frequented by many of the local families. We are widely regarded as the best Chinese restaurant for the Chinese in the East Midlands. Our Menu has over 250 dishes, as well as a wide range of drink and wine list. We are also very pround to bring out over a wide varity of authentic hot and spicy Sichuan cuisine, specifically designed to the Mainland Chinese Taste. You would expect to find all your favourite dishes, ranging from the Sweet & Sours and Sizzlers to live seafood such as Lobster, Crabs & Scallops. The menu is widely seen as being the largest in England. The philosophy here has always been to try and cater for all the customer’s taste and demands.

Popped in for an impromptu meal on a Monday evening and was very pleased we did. Extensive menu, with warnings about European pallets and some of the dishes they serve! Great service and food arrived in a reasonable time. We ordered a mix of sharing starters and mains which were all very tasty, although the fish dish on the table next to us is what I intend to order next time we go!

Staffs were friendly and food was superb and delicious. Brings the favouring from other countries into nottingham for others to try. Salt and pepper squid is a must try.

I thought this would be amazing given that so many Chinese people were eating in there. Perhaps we just chose the wrong dishes or my expectations were too high. My pork and duck was tough, fatty and full of bone, not sure how I was supposed to eat this with chop sticks. My daughters soup was bland and uninteresting, I have made better Oriental soups at home. Wouldn't visit again, wish we'd stuck with Bar Burrito instead!!

After hearing rave reviews i'd been dying to try this place. Unfortunately it was the worst meal i've had in my life. A bowl full of flavoured water with lumps of offal and whole slices of tinned spam. What a joke! The wifes seafood crispy noodle dish was no better than the average takeaway noodle dish. And way way too much chilli in everything. Terrible. £100 wasted. Oh and everybodys food doesn't come at the same time.

When we visit Nottingham for concerts we always try to come here.
Recent visit was on a Monday and it shows you how good the place is when you see how popular it is even when it’s not a main night people usually go out.
Whilst the decor is simple the food is fresh and very tasty. The staff are very attentive and the atmosphere is relaxed but also vibrant.
The cost may be a little on the expensive side but it’s certainly value for money with the quality of food.
