Wonderful collection, the museum of Nottinghamshire Life. Series of roomd, shops etc recreated. Fascinating troglodyte air-raid shelter.
What a pity you can't get in without buying a ticket for the rip-off castle!

A hidden little gem, tucked away behind the castle.
Wander through the rooms in the cottages where volunteers are on hand to talk about life and describe the artefacts. Signposts guide you through the rooms and caves at the back of the houses.
£2.50 didn't seem nearly enough for this experience, I'm glad we visited it before it closes for refurbishment.

This place is a real gem, and is brought alive by the enthusiasm of the staff and volunteers. There was much more to look at and explore than I was expecting, including the caves at the back of the building. Totally fascinating and excellent value for what you get in return. (It's free with a ticket to the castle, but I just visited the museum and paid £2.50 for entry.)
I understand that the museum is at threat of closure for a couple of years at the end of the month due to the castle closing for refurbishment, so visit soon but it would be a crying shame if this does happen, not least because they will lose the dedicated volunteers who add so much.
Totally recommended for any age group as there is something for everyone here.

Visited the museum as entry was free with the castle ticket I had purchased. My trip round the castle had left me feeling rather underwhelmed and I wasn't expecting the museum to be any different. How wrong I was. The museum is excellent, very much enjoyed looking round and definitely would recommend a visit.

Following the underground cave tour we were recommended to pay this museum a visit. What a gem! Lots to see - covering room settings, bygone toys, shop settings, air raid shelters etc etc
Well worth a visit.

After we have finished the visit at museum of Nottingham, we stopped here because it is free admission if you been at museum before .
The brewhouse is social history museum exploring Nottingham’s about last 300 years with recreated shops, house and school.
Funny too, so I totally recommend it.
There are not many photos, but still I hope that you'll like them.
