We have stayed at The Old Bank many times since our daughter moved to Oxford to study. Our favourite room is a beautifully renovated superior deluxe with wonderful views over the rooftops and spires, contemporary and luxurious with every detail thought of.
However on this occasion, I booked last minute and was travelling alone and, as the hotel was extremely busy, I was offered their ground floor deluxe accessible room. This is a lovely room with king size bed and beautiful big bathroom with superior fittings, massive shower, and everything you could need. .. It struck me how nice it would be for someone who is in a wheelchair or who has limited mobility to be able to stay in such a luxuriously appointed hotel room, a real treat.
I thoroughly enjoyed my impromptu weekend break, thank you to Toby and the very attentive and professional team who always make it so special. Can’t wait to be back!

I thought I'd reviewed this during my stay but for some reason it never posted. I need to put this right. My wife and I stayed for our 30th Wedding Anniversary in 2017 and right from booking in throughout the stay we were thoroughly spoilt, from a conversation at reception we then found little touches (which will remain secret) that made our stay even more enjoyable - room fantastic, food fantastic and the staff superb - thanks everyone and sorry for the delay

This hotel is central and very convenient for the theatre, shopping and local attractions.
The fact they have a car park is a great asset, nothing is too much trouble for them.

The food in the Quod is just as good and great value for money.

We have stayed her four times now and would not book anywhere else.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the Hotel are quite, but you have a lovely views from the front of the hotel.

We loved this hotel - our room was great - really light with wonderful windows overlooking the outdoor section of the restaurant. In winter it was not open so we had no noise however not sure if that would be an issue in warmer months? A room facing the street would be great because of where it is. We had great drinks at the bar and dinner at the restaurant which was fantastic food. It is super central so we just walked out the door and were in the heart of Oxford. Really great stay!

Thank you for your great review, it was a delight to read and share with colleagues.

As I write this somewhat belated response, I can hear the hubbub of guests enjoying the (also belated!) arrival of Spring, on our beautiful Italianate terrace. It is less quiet than the silence of winter, but altogether more pleasing to hear.

We are delighted you enjoyed all aspects of your visit and hope you will return to us, perhaps when the sun is shining?

Kind regards

Toby

Stayed here on a Saturday night for a birthday treat on a deal from Expedia. Deluxe double we had was fairly big for a city centre hotel and had a good view over Oxford. Nice touches in the room, such as bags of fresh macaroons and biscuits. Good selection of teas and coffees, however, you do have to bring the kettle out of the unit to plug it in as it very cramped in the wardrobe where the tea tray is located, with no convenient plug socket. Unfortunately, the kettle then dripped over everything on the dressing table/desk. The mini bar was fully stocked and included complimentary mineral water.

The bed was a superking and very comfortable. The bathroom was large with a double sink unit and separate bath tub and shower cubicle. I thought the water pressure wasn’t particularly good in the shower plus there were a couple of cracked wall tiles. However, the whole room was spotlessly clean.

We ate a late dinner in Quod restaurant. The restaurant was very busy but the service was still efficient and fast. The food itself was good pub-style dining. Very tasty and decent sized portions. The bar serves excellent cocktails!

The reception staff were extremely professional both on check in and out. Very efficient and friendly.

Overall, a very pleasant stay, although I’m not sure I’d pay the standard rate of £415 for this particular room. It does seem a bit over-priced. However, the hotel is in a fantastic location right in the centre of town and you do get free parking which is a massive plus in Oxford.

Thank you very much for your review and your kind words. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay and the delights of Quod restaurant.

We have already begun the latter phases of our refurbishment project. Minor inconveniences such as the water pressure in the shower, the cracked bathroom tiles and the design and location of the wardrobe and tea tray are being overhauled, with the full redesign of the bedroom and bathroom.

We do hope you will return to the Old Bank soon and have the opportunity to see these improvements for yourself?

Kind regards

Toby
