We weren't' able to do a tour so just bought the tickets for self tour through the theatre and up to the cupola. The views from the top are fantastic. In the theatre you can feel the history of academia.

It was so much fun to be in Oxford and see for myself all the places where Morse, Lewis and Endeavour walk,
had a great walking tour with Heidi who remembers an astounding number of things from different movies!

The Sheldonian is where undergraduates are admitted to the University and where they graduate. Designed and built by Sir Christopher Wren (of St' Pauls, London fame). What we liked most was the complexity of the roof construction (you go right up into the roof space to access the cupola).

Made a last minute decision to visit this theatre and we're so glad we did. The painted ceiling is fabulous and after a not too strenuous climb up to the cupola we enjoyed the stunning views over Oxford. Lots of information on the building upstairs. All in all, a fabulous visit.

Excellent value for money (£3 approx). The theatre itself is lovely with a beautiful painted ceiling, but for me the highlight of the visit was the spectacular view over Oxford from the cupola; definitely worth the climb.
