This is truly a remarkable Hotel. It is on the more expensive side; however, if you are looking for a romantic getaway, this is your place. The Malmaison Hotel has a bar, restaurant, and local shops and restaurants directly outside.

As far as my wedding, Aimee, the wedding planner for Malmaison made my day simple. She met with me prior to the wedding and met with each person as they arrived for placement of items. She continuously checked on me to see if we needed additional beverages in the dressing room and had items delivered promptly.

Lorraine was our waitress during the reception and was super friendly and made sure we were all served quickly. She even took time to talk to us when we asked questions and always had a smile on her face. We could not have asked for a better waitress.

Our wedding was small but the staff made it special and would recommend the Malmaison in Oxford to anyone looking for a place to have their wedding or for a romantic getaway.

Room Tip: Request a courtyard view, the gardens and greenery is beautiful

My 14 year old and I stayed here while visiting the fascinating town of Oxford. The hotel, a former jail, has been turned into a chic establishment. Though probably better for couples than families, it lived up to its billing as a comfortable and well-located place. The room was large enough to squeeze in an extra bed and breakfast was very good. My only reservation was a lot of commotion in the reception area and outside. But still a very good experience.

Treated ourselves to a weekend break at Malmaison, as we’d been meaning to go for years, and for the most part it lived up to our expectations. The building is amazing, as are the rooms (it was worth upgrading to a cell with roll top bath). The courtyard and the restaurant were also of a high standard (and the chef was very friendly), though a three course meal was a bit of a struggle due to the size of the portions (particularly the starters). The location is also amazing, though we saved a bit of money by parking at the Pear Tree Park and Ride (its probably quicker to get into town too given Oxford’s terrible traffic). On the negative side the room was indeed very hot - they really need to sort this out as just providing a fan isn’t good enough. Also there was the odd problem with service in the bar and the hotel itself is getting a little frayed around the edges in places. That said any issues were swiftly dealt with and it is obvious that the management really take pride in their establishment. Overall we would definitely visit again, but maybe not in summer!

I went with my boyfriend for his business trip and I was amazed by this charming yet peculiar hotel that used to be a prison. The area is amazing, calm and quiet with great food. I am definitely coming back to this place!

As others have reported, the air quality is very poor in summer. Our room has no windows and they tell us no fans are available. The room is stifling and we have been unable to sleep. And the rooms aren’t cheap. Very dissapointing.
