My Husband and I stayed here for a Date night. We got a package of cell room, dinner, breakfast and a bottle I'd champagne. It was worth the money and it was an amazing hotel with a lot of atmosphere. The building and rooms have the Wow factor, food very good and the staff and service was excellent. 5* all the way. We paid an extra £2 each for a cooked breakfast as the package only gave us a continental breakfast well worth the extra £2. We had to pay £28 to park at the hotel but they just take the keys from you and bring it back when you leave. They ask you book that in advance but we didn't but we stayed on a Sunday so they had room for us. Our room was beautiful and the bedding was lovely our room was made up of 3 cells it's amazing what they have done with this old prison. You must book a cell room to get the experience.
The hotel is about a 5 min walk to Westgate shopping centre and around the hotel there are places to eat and drink. You must put this on your list of places to stay and its in a beautiful city.

Room tip: Book a package and upgrade at least to a cell room.

PROS: Quirky converted prison. Beautifully appointment large bedroom converted out of three prison cells. Very comfortable bed with quality linen.
Requested a room near to reception/brasserie/lift due to mobility issues and room 106 was perfect.
Cocktails were excellent
Very Good Brasserie Menu
Tea/coffee facilities in room, iron/ironing board in room and hairdryer in room.
Valet Car Parking on site £28 per night - you do have to leave your car keys with reception though.
Fabulous Central Location
CONS: Water is dangerously hot to the point of scalding. I had to use a cup to add cold water to the bath and even then, when I got out, my skin was bright red. It would have been impossible to have a shower. Lots of reviewers have mentioned this and management really should take notice as someone will get horribly burnt.
Key card was cancelled an hour before check-out so we couldn’t get back in the room after breakfast. Apparently this happens regularly! The cards are programmed at reception - I’m unsure what benefit the hotel gets from programming the cards to stop working before the guests leave.

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay but would advise prospective guests that this is a very nice four star hotel. If they want the service/amenities/food of a five star hotel they should book elsewhere. I would go so far as to say this is a four star hotel charging five star prices.

The hotel looks great and is very unique and our room was very clean. We were left disappointed with our stay after eating in the restaurant. After asking twice if there were nuts in my desert and being told no we were eventually told it actually did to apologise for the mistake they also gave me a brownie which again had nuts in. We emailed the hotel to inform them of this and have not had any response. Great hotel but poor customer service.

A group of 12 of us enjoyed afternoon tea here. Savoury options included a chicken slider and a salmon bagel. Lots of yummy cakes and scones. Lots of food for the price. their was even a little cheesecake pot. Really enjoyed it!

Unusual hotel, beautifully furnished in centre of city.
For the price we paid disappointed with few things.
Check in and out took ages. We were given our room key and room number which didn’t exist so ended up back in reception. Eventually told It was a name! We carried our own bags to our room- they should have been taken for us to avoid this confusion.
Our bathroom was huge and had plenty of space for a walk in shower but only had one over the bath that sprayed over the floor. Water was scorching and not adjustable. Room was cold when we arrived . We had to ask how to heat it. Need instructions in the room. Bed was very comfy however.
Also lacking in plugs. They seemed not to be of English variety!
Full English breakfast should have been included. Service was slow at breakfast. Food good.
Would recommend the cream tea we had on Saturday afternoon.
