Looking for a pub for lunch we picked one we thought would suit us with real ales and unpretentious food. A short uphill walk away from the bridge we found the Horse and Jockey. We hadn't booked, but the polite girl behind the counter offered us a table and served us with some excellently kept beer. We both opted for the Roast Pork which was a good sized portion with plenty of vegetables and arrived in a reasonable time. The pub itself is a good honest building. Not overdone in trendy Farrow & Ball, just showing it's charm. Excellent pub!!

Every Tuesday is pie night, a pie and a pint for £9, seemed a good deal, so thought I'd check it out.
There was a choice of 5 or 6 pies including one for vegetarians. I chose the Piggly pie which included pork, bacon and sausage, I had this served with chips (wedges, mash, boiled potatoes also available), a rich gravy and a dish of vegetables including carrots, broccoli and cauliflower cheese. The meal was substantial and tasted great, washed this all down with a pint of Hop Twister.
Wow! What amazing value, the staff were very friendly as well, I can't recommend the "pie night" enough, well worth a visit.

Read previous T.A. reports, couldn't wait to try this pub whilst in Ironbridge for a long weekend. We decided to have Sunday lunch, roast beef for two. Tough beef, food not very hot, all in all very disappointing. When asked if everything was ok said the beef was tough and the girl said 'oh I'm sorry'. Went to the other pub down the road where a couple were eating Sunday lunch and they couldn't chew their beef either. Perhaps the two pubs use the same butcher?

We were a group of 9 and had booked a table for Saturday evening. The small public house was very quiet and beautifully set out with a nice relaxed atmosphere.
The menu is very good and caters for all diners. All of our food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Prices are very reasonable too.
The staff were so pleasant and helpful.
I would love to visit again.
