Yes the bridge is covered up for renovations but there is still a lot to do in the immediate area. Nice antique centre with coffee shop and a nice park next door easy for the family and buggies. There are well marked cycle routs in the area as well

I have seen the Bridge many times and it is an engineering marvel. It is currently undergoing much needed restoration. It’s fascinating to see how they are doing this. You can still cross on one side with marvellous views down the river/valley. Toll house is open to visitors along with surrounding museums. Lovely heritage site with boutique shops and lots of nice places to eat or get a drink from

After looking on the Ironbridge website before making a long trip to come here, failed to see any mention of the fact that the main photogenic attraction is totally covered with plastic for renovations. I totally understand that work is needed on this iconic structure, but I didn’t see this mentioned on the website. Maybe I missed something? It was my first ever visit and although the toll house was open, I was really really disappointed by the visit. I will make a point of returning some day, but I was on holiday and chose this destination as the highlight of a long distance walk. Shame.

The bridge is currently undergoing restoration work, but still makes an interesting visit and you can still walk over it. The old Tollhouse was very interesting and the lady on the desk was very knowledgable and helpful. Still wort a visit to see and read the information on the bridge.
