MAGNIFICENT, a temporary scaffolding has been formed alongside the bridge, so can walk along, and through viewing holes look at the underneath of this beautiful structure, something that once repaired will never be able to do again. It was AWESOME and visitors today were taking photos, and admiring with great respect. Its completely FREE OF CHARGE, and I could not see anyone with a donation box, as would have happily done so.
Not having my phone or camera upon me today, and friend also , I am planning to return to take some pictures as it is so inspiring and makes one proud that this industry was BRITISH.

The bridge is undergoing a major restoration project.
The walk way is open(10 til 4) and the restoration is viewable through windows.
Hard hats need booking through English Heritage not the museum.
Fantastic views and see the restoration project.

Sadly the iron bridge is under repair so when we visited it wasn't possible to see it in all its glory but we did get to walk over it. The toll house gives you a great insight into the history of the bridge and is well worth a visit.

Unfortunately under renovation when we arrived so can not make an honest comment. However the village of Ironbridge is lovely with many little tasteful shops to browse. The 2nd hand bookshop has an amazing selection of every book you could ever imagine with books piled up to the ceilings. Maybe next time we visit the bridge will be unveiled?
