Reconstructed Victorian village, worth the visit, not as good as the one near Cardiff or Beamish in County Durham

Went as a family, great day out, you will experience authentic Victorian shops, cottages and work places. It’s like being transported back to Victorian times. Can also recommend the fish and chips

Had a great day at blists hill today. It took us all day to get around the Victorian town, lots of informative interactive staff who made it a really enjoyable experience. My particular favourite who should not be missed was the pub pianist singer, very talented and comical, perfect complement to a pint of local ale. My daughter was particularly fond of the fair, which was all affordable at a pound a go. Thank you for a wonderful day .

Very good day with young grandchildren, who were kept well entertained during our stay. Most of the locations were open and staffed - the staff working very hard to both keep visitors engaged and informed.

Too many highlights to identify individual locations but make sure you give yourself plenty of time - you’ll need it.

The only disappointment, and hardly Blists Hill’s fault was particularly wet weather. The Victorian muddy roads were hardly ideal.

Still a very good day.

We visited Blists Hill Victorian Town on a cold rainy day last week but still had an enjoyable day. The town is very well laid out and represents life as it used to be under the incredibly ingenious and skilful Victorians. The casting in the foundry showed how profoundly difficult, dangerous and labour intensive the iron trades were. At the other end of the scale, the candle making although similarly labour intensive was quite sedate in its manufacturing process. Overall it was a very good visit. We would have rated it excellent rather than very good but for two things. 1) The so called legendary fish and chips were poor. The chips had been cooked earlier in the day. Upon ordering them, the lady behind the counter fetched them from the rear of the premises and reheated them till they were over cooked and the fish was also dry. Not very nice. 2) The Town has lots of nooks and crannies to explore and as we walked up one open gated entry, a lady in period costume asked quite sternly what we were doing there. She then said we shouldn't be there and promptly ushered us out putting her hands in my back saying staff only in here. We were unaware it was staff only as the gate was open with no clear visible signage. Had she just said excuse me this is staff only, fine, but to put her hands in my back was out of order.
