We had a great stay at the Unicorn Hotel in Ludlow. The host Lee could not have been more friendly and welcoming. Quirky rooms, cosy pub and great breakfasts. What more could a pair of hungry hikers want? Plus great evening meals using local ingredients. Ludlow itself is very attractive with a fascinating history!

Last came to the unicorn about 4 years ago and remember the food being great. Booked a table for a Saturday lunch with my parents and the table service was good but the food was limited choice and questionable on quality. We ordered Spring rolls, deep fried brie and duck parfait for starters, then cod and chips, vegetable ravioli and duck confit for mains. The starters were nice, especially the duck parfait. The spring rolls weren't worth the money, 2 home made spring rolls cut in half for £7, I'd say £5 is more appropriate. The portion size for the brie was more worth the money. The best dish of the starters was the duck parfait, which had nice chunks of what seemed home made bread with it.
For mains, the best of the dish presented to us was the ravioli which my Dad really enjoyed. The duck confit was nice also but found a piece of foil on the underneath of the duck which was a bit of a choking hazard. The most disappointing was the cod and chips... Which weren't chips at all... They were frozen fries chucked into a frier. So it wasn't cod and chips, it was cod and fries. The most questionable thing was there NO PEAS! What restaurant doesn't serve peas with fish and chips? The Cod was cooked well and was nice and flaky, but when you only have greasy fries to go with it, as a whole, was really disappointing and fatty. We complained to the waiter about it who thankfully took it off the bill, as it wasn't worth the £12.95 on the menu. We'd get better fish and chips from any other pub in the town centre.
Overall, I was disappointed with the food and probably wouldn't come back unless it was for just a drink. I hope management can make some changes to bring the menu back to its former glory.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at The Unicorn. Quaint accommodation and amazing food. The staff are very friendly and happy to provide information regarding local amenities. Great location for exploring Ludlow and the surrounding area.

Stumbled upon this hidden Gem whilst trying to book an outdoor table for our lunch last Sunday.
The meal was excellent and we loved the garden and very friendly staff. Would highly recommend a visit here.

One of the best meals we have had in a restaurant for a long time. Definitely recommend. We had the cod in lobster bisque & the pork loin. Very old inn, good service and with Covid restrictions. Here on holiday, doubt we will be back in Ludlow but if we were we would book again.
