Description: He Foundry Restaurant is a cafe by day offering a great selection of teas, coffee and cakes complete with a seasonal menu to suit all tastes. As the day evolves to evening The Foundry transforms into a relaxed restaurant atmosphere where we offer a great pre-theater experience with stunning views of the river Severn. We have daily specials championing local and seasonal produce, and serve deserts and drinks for the interval. The perfect way to enjoy a night out at the Theater.

Went here on Saturday evening before going to the theatre.

We were shown to our reserved table which as requested was wheelchair accessible.

There were about 5 main courses on the menu. Wife chose the steak while I ordered the pork belly. The pate starters were very good. Unfortunately the steak was not good, not sure how it was cooked, think it was fried in a frying pan using fat from the chip fryer, it tasted of chips and was soaked in oil. Wife sent it back. They offered to cook a replacement which we accepted, but the chef declined to cook another as he said it would be the same as we had returned.

We were given a complimentary desert and not charged for the steak.

Don’t think we will be returning.

This was my first visit to the restaurant and the Theatre. Reservation in order and shown very promptly to table over looking the river. Very pleasant. Small and compact, but big on service and quality. Friendly staff who were very organised and efficient. Here for lunch but varied menu. Courses arrived in quick order. Great food. However, there was no Pinkster Gin!!!!

We have been coming here for the past two years and the food is consistently excellent. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. A real treat before a night at the theatre.

We first ate here in June 2016 and felt that our meal was as good as we had experienced anywhere. We visited again for a pre-performance meal and I'm happy to report that The Foundry is still a great place to eat. Choice from about five main courses, plus daily specials. I had sausages on an excellent mash with greens; my partner had sea bass on an excellent creamy risotto. As before, excellent, attentive service from the young staff. A real treat before watching an opera from the ROH. We shall return.

Sadly upon three recent visits I have found the foundry cafe to be terrible! The staff seem to have no clue how to make coffee or present it as it would be in a coffee shop. They also have really poor customer service awareness.

I first ordered an espresso and it looked like dirty water with no crema, I sent it back and it came back in a dirty cup and filled to the brim (clearly not a single espresso). The staff just seemed incapable of understanding what the problem was. My next visit I ordered a cappuccino but it was prepared as a latte. The cafe charges prices as a coffee shop would and have a professional barista style coffee machine yet the staff are clearly lacking professional training or they just don’t care. Upon complaining to the staff that something is wrong you just get blank/expressionless faces. Which is a real shame for the theatre.

I don’t want to complain about the theatre in anyway but I recommend the cafe staff receive some proper barista and customer service training. At the end of the day you have a professional machine, charge prices as a coffee shop would so why not do it properly and give the customers what they are paying for. Otherwise I’d say avoid the cafe!
